You can set the subject of your reply by editing the Subject box on the Reply page. You can also change the subject of an existing post when you edit it - by default it stays the same. My guess is that Vikram edited his reply and updated the subject to reflect that.
When you reply, the default subject for your post is 'Re:' plus the subject of the post you're replying to, minus a leading 'Re:' if one is present. So the default subject for the post you created, and the other replies, was 'Re: Wrong year? [edited]', even though you didn't edit anything.

Several Years ago the german televison made a funny mistake. They accidently(?) boradcasted the Chancellor's new year's address not from the current year but from the year *before* - and no one noticed this exept his staff.
Sort of this semmed to have happened to your ID-4 Logo. We have 2005, right?

I'm learning assembler and found that this site doesn't have assembler forum...
Why?
Does none of you programmers out there like assembler?
I beleve that good programmers have to program assembler some part in their life. It makes them better. I read that in a book, and it's true, I learnt
to think better when I program now, and I'm just beginner.

I think that the forums need to be reconstructed!!!
The topics are too general... we should have a forum for the language c++, a forum for the windows api, a forum for kernel-mode api and so on.
At the moment all these topics are postet to the visual c++ forum, which is not very reasonable.
The hardware forum was just one single step, but I think there should be major changes in the whole forum system!
As I can imagine that it is not very much work to create a new forum the changes should applied quickly after a discussion which forums are really needed.
Don't try it, just do it!

I think you want to make an irc out of cp or maybe a google groups? check both, you wont be hurt, you'll actually become enlightened, and anyways  like you said: "Don't try it, just do it!" so why don't you make your own []_(())[]_!!!!

If this is your suggestion there is no reason to have a C++ related forum at all. You can always consult google groops.
But since there is a forum for C++ there should be subforums related to the different topics. This is something I'm missing too. There is too much traffic for C++ as a whole.

The problem is that people don't post in the correct forums now. Imagine adding more! The problem - and I'm sure I'll get voted down on this - is that too many people will go ahead and answer questions posted in the wrong forum.
This causes two problems:
1) It encourages the questioner to continue posting wherever he/she likes regardless of the forum topic
2) It kills the credibility of searching a specific forum for a question as the desired information might very well have been asked for and answered on a completely unrelated forum.

I was wondering if anyone had considered changing the weighting of votes to take into account how an individual votes. What I mean is this:
For each article a person votes on...
First calculate the standard deviation of the votes on an article.
Determine how many standard deviations away their vote is (decimal number)
Then add that number into an average from other articles they voted on
This average distance from the mean vote (in standard deviations) would then affect the weight of their next vote. This solves a lot of problems. People who like to vote low or high to "move" the current score to what they think it should be loose the ability to do so. In addition, on the rare occasion that someone likes to give everyone "1"s their voting power is also diminished. I think it would encourage people to vote the score they think something should get rather then trying to "move" the score to what they think it should be.
Now, there are a few more things involved with this. Each person's average difference from the mean vote (in standard deviations) would need to be recalculated before they vote again. If they are the second person to vote for something and the scores go as follows:
5, 2,1,1,2,2
Then without the recalculation there voting power is diminished when it clearly should not be. This also raises the issue of re-scoring everything they ever voted for when their voting power changes. I don’t think it is necessary to re-score everything, but I really don't care.
Also, if someone wants to get fancy and add statistical error calculations, for things with very few votes, it couldn't hurt.
Well, that's it. I know it is a lot to ask, but as long as there is a rewrite in the works I thought I should put it out there.
