As beautiful as it is... it is a royal PAIN to keep going....

X6DA8-G2 Motherboard
dual Intel Xeon 64bit 3.6ghz
6 Gig DDR2-400 PC3200 memory
dual Gig-e Intel Network LAN (and will be used as dual Gig)
MSI 6800GT graphics (didn't want to buy an Ultra, because the graphics card will be replaced before August, guarenteed)
Western Digital 10k rpm, removable boot.

SCSI RAID-0: 5x 10k rpm U160 76gig on an U320 backplane: 236MB/s write
SATA Raid-0: 4x 7200 rpm 400gig on SATA-II controller: 189MB/s write
DVD Dual layer, +- dual format RW.

Before you get jealous, don't. Powering the sun of a gun is a pain!!! I have gone through 3 Powersupplies with issues on each, not enough power on a 550W, not enough power per 12v lead on a 680W, currently running on a non-standard power distribution on a 645W.

The CPU's do not want to seat correctly, we've had to order more thermal compound, 5 tries and one CPU is still running 12C above the first.

One 400Gig SATA drive was DOA. Adaptec controller, though recognized by Windows Blue-screened the first time it was enabled as a hardware RAID device. The three disk SATA RAID has gone off-line three times during windows, it is currently being low-level formatted and tested overnight. I am hoping not power.

The OS removable tray is so large it sticks out of the front of the case half an inch or more. Nero reports the DVD as what it really is, but can't write in Dual layer mode.

By the time I get the darn thing stable, the new graphics card will need to be put in, how much you wanna bet there will be issues? I think the design is ultimately decent -- though I might opt for a 5 disk SATA removable tray for customer builds so we can have a hot-spare in case of failures.

Still waiting on a good powersupply.... But best to work out prototype builds locally before building for customers.
