So, I have two NVMe SSDs in my machine: One for the system and applications (C:\), and one that holds only data (D:\). Both were 1 TB drives, but the D:\ drive was rapidly running out of capacity. So I bought a 2 TB Samsung to replace the D:\ drive.

This left me with a spare 1 TB Samsung 850 PRO drive with an integral heatsink - A very good drive. I decided to move the contents of the system drive to the spare 850 with a view to replace the existing C: drive. Now, I suppose the usual approach would be to clone the system to the replacement SSD, but I tried a different approach:

Using Powershell / Diskpart I ran the "Clean" command on the 850. Then I used Diskpart to convert the drive to gpt. That was all the preparation I did. I did not create any partitions on the drive. It was totally bare bones. Then I took the last Macrium Reflect image of the old C:\ drive and restored it to the blank 850. Macrium created and formatted all necessary partitions. I was up and running with the 850 as the new C:\ drive in a manner of 5 or 6 minutes. Nice!

One word of caution: Don't mess with Diskpart unless you know what you are doing. It is very potent. It can wipe the entire content of a disk in a flash with a single command: All data and even all partitions!
Get me coffee and no one gets hurt!
