I always wonder how the gay/trans/lesbian/... community would react to a straight (hetero) section in the annual Pride parade.
How would you react? Should it be denied? Tolerated? Encouraged? ("You" are meant as any reader of this post.)
What if it grew bigger than any other section, dominating the parade? OK? Or should measures be taken to downsize the straight influence/dominance?

As computer guys, I guess we are entitled to thinking in binary. It is either 0 or 1, off or on.
Analog guys (actually, 40 years ago there were analog computers as well!) are prepared to handle intermediate values. You can be tolerant up to a point. Maybe more in some areas than in others. Conversely, you go the woke line only so far, you do not go to extremes.
Neither woke nor tolerance is absolute. You should strive to understand where your limits are for either of them. Then spend some time pondering whether you really have good enough reasons to justify these limits.

Wow - how many words do you want to apply this to? How far back are you wanting to go. The tens of thousands of words that never existed before say 1900? How about the riduculous number of words that culture have modified over the last few decades - many of which mean exactly the opposite of their original meaning.

People can only tolerate something negative. Nobody has to tolerate anything neutral or positive. So no, tolerance is not a good value.
