I've been told/read multiple times that GCC will always inline template functions.
I use a ton of template functions in GFX for drawing operations, and I was deeply concerned that for example, my line drawing code (contained in a template function) was getting replicated for every line draw.
So I was going to wrap the calls in template structs, and then forward the template function calls to those. That was going to take a lot of time to refactor.
so before I did, i fired up the trusty Compiler Explorer[^] and ran this code:

Come to find out, my information was bovine excrement. abc<1,0,0> does indeed get turned into a function, as long as the function is large enough.

Half a year from now: Proudly announce that the line drawing routine has been optimized and is now smaller than ever - not noticing it is getting in-lined.
One year from now: Proudly announce it works with the new version of GCC - not noticing some of the methods are now getting in-lined.

This is very true. In some ways, it would be nice if the standards dictated behavior in this regard, but on the other hand I think I understand why they don't.
However, if GCC starts being more aggressive about inlining even with -Os a whole lot of people who write for embedded and IoT are going to start complaining.

Unless you use the inline specifier the compiler has the option to inline or create a function. This was added to the C++ spec in version 17.

It has the *option* to. It doesn't mean it will, and like I said I had heard (incorrectly) that template functions were always inlined with GCC.
Plus I am targeting C++14. I don't have access to a GCC compiler new enough to target 17 in my toolchain. The problem is the version of MiniGW that platform IO uses under windows is just not new enough. I could hack it but I want other people to be able to build this.

Yosh - Hollow / Nobuo Uematsu & Masashi Hamauzu - Credits[^]
So this past Christmas break I played the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Great game and needless to say I ordered the soundtrack, which arrived last week!
Including the Intergrade DLC it has 266 tracks, so you know what to expect of the SOTW in the next 266 weeks
Seriously though, it has lots of great music and picking just one for this SOTW is pretty difficult.
So I'm going with the credits music, which consists of Hollow by Yosh and a medley of Aerith's Theme, the Main Theme of FFVII (sector 7 slums theme in the remake) and some original remake music by Nobuo Uematsu, the legendary FF composer, and Masashi Hamauzu, who is also known for FF and the SaGa series.
Aerith's Theme is one of the most beautiful musical pieces ever written, period.
Although, I must say Flowers Blooming in the Church, which is an arrangement of Aerith's Theme, sounds great in the remake and may even be my favorite.
The Main Theme of FFVII was the overworld theme in the original game, great piece, which, together with Aerith's Theme, was already available as orchestrated piece on the FFVII Reunion Tracks album and on the Distant Worlds albums.
The original remake music has some great tunes too, like Hollow Skies, which is basically the musical theme of Hollow.
All in all a great soundtrack and, just like the game, highly recommended!

The site has been going for over 20 years now, and in all the 12 years I've been here has never shown any sign of scamming. Not once have I been asked for money, or any personal details other than my email address and my physical address for awards and prizes when I have won them.
I don't think this site is a scam, or full of "cracker thiefs" (whatever they are) and to the best of my knowledge in order to become a member you have to register yourself and give an email address. YOu joined yesterday, perhaps you forgot?
If you want to close an account you opened in error, it's very easy:
1) Hover over your username at the top right of the page. A drop down list will open.
2) Select "My Settings" from the list.
3) In the resulting page, select the "Privacy" tab.
4) There are two options:
4.1) Under "Account status" there is a checkbox "Close my account"
4.2) Under "Forget me Forever" there is a checkbox "Forget me. Forever."
5) Select the appropriate checkbox, make sure that "I have read and agree..." is ticked, and press "Save my Settings".
6) The rest is history ... as is your account.

Man, I just left my browser open with some tabs and one of the tabs was on your site. I went to sleep and when i woke up at 8.30 I had mail which said I created an account at 7 am, while i was sleeping.
I don't know how your site got my information, and how it created an account with my name, maybe scamming google account info.

I frequently leave CP open in a tab and it doesn't do any posting on my behalf - bit of a shame really as it could be a neat way of dealing with the spam moderation.
Does anyone else live in your place that might have done this as a joke?
Could one of those other tabs have downloaded malware that used your details to spam this site?

I live with other people but they sleep in different rooms, they were at sleep for sure at the time of event and they are not the people who do these things. I have no problems of night walking or similar. I really don't know how it could happen but it's not a nice thing.

It's also very, very unlikely - everybody here is a developer, and we hate info gathering as much as anyone else (possibly more so). A much more likely scenario is that someone in your house did it, and perhaps forgot ...
But if you are worried, just close the account and CP will never bother you again. Not once have I heard of any member details being exposed, sold, or given away by this site: they go to great lengths to prevent that happening as privacy is important to the site designers, and always has been. Certainly in the 12+ years I've been a member, they haven't done it to me once!
