I used to follow his channel. Used to. The whole video is terrifying, he looks like a complete noob (and he is not, he definitely has abilities, he was out of his depth).

Then he started trolling the people who commented and ended up disabling comments to the video. Damn ID-10T.

On another topic, I follow Forgotten Weapons: when Ian has a rare gun he wears gloves, goes extra delicate, does extensive research before attempting to disassemble the piece and if he is not sure he doesn't touch. He never forces anything lose. 8-bit guy resorted to a fscking Dremel not because the screws were unique and impossible to open: he just had his ass too heavy to go and get a frakking Torx from the toolbox.

Ooops, I destroyed a thing: it happens.

Ooops, I was too lazy to get the appropriate tool so I used a power tool on what's possibly a unique item, then instead of doing proper study and diagnostic on the power supply I used a paper clip to short circuit two connectors without knowing what they actually are: it doesn't happen.

I'm having a bit of an epiphany. After 40 years of engineering/coding, I'm pretty sure most of what we do is silly. And yeah, I know those are fighting words.

My company is in the IoT business. A few years ago, at the lunch table we started chatting about how much - or little - our chips satisfied a real "need" of the world. The group around the table agreed that the world certainly could do well without what we make. We contribute to build a "need" in the market, but that is artificially created. We construct a problem for the purpose of selling a solution to it.

The one fundamental need that our products satisfy is our need for an income. Because the company can sell these chips to earn money, we receive a paycheck every month. That is the most important effect of our efforts. We really do not solve any other of the world's problems.

I got logged out this morning (which happened maybe twice within twenty years membership), by signing in my password was not recognized anymore, asked for a new one and the new one would not allow me to sign in neither, tried from my home computer to no avail - to this point I stopped trying since you cannot post to signal any problem without creating a new account, which is pointless.
This afternoon, everything works again.

It looks like the hamsters went on a road trip for a few hours.

Me too (No, I'm not going to hash-tag that). When I started there was -1 active users which then changed to 0 active users. How did they know I was inactive (the camera was not switched on).

it's not only you.

i couldn't open a single link to articles on codeproject, only the main page was working. couldn't log either.

there was a 404 message "spoon not found", "Do not try and find the page. That’s impossible. Instead only try to realise the truth. There is no page"

and another 404 one, it displayed something like a ms-dos screen with the famous error listing: abort, retry, ignore, fail

it looks like it's mostly repaired now. some pages still don't work though.
