Me too. There are real technical jewels over there.
But the community in CP is not comparable. Despite the occasional problems, I still think CP has one of the best communities in the internet.

I've found a number of answers, or at least help that pointed me in the right direction, on stackoverflow.
I have not, however, been able to post a question. The first time I tried the question was closed and marked as "improper" with no explanation within minutes of my posting it. The second one the question disappeared without a trace. I think it was deleted by a moderator.
I have no compunctions about using information I glean on SO. They can go ![Elephant | [mastadon]](https://codeproject.global.ssl.fastly.net/script/Forums/Images/elephant.gif) themselves with a pitchfork sideways before I'll ever try asking another question or posting responses.

I've used SO a lot to find answers. I had a problem (with Remote Desktop Connection to a Raspberry Pi - started a few days ago) and the only search link that mentioned it was to SO, so I wrote a comment on it (had to sign up to do it) which has been immediately deleted by some SOer as they don't accept "It happens to me as well" responses. I've not had that happen on CP.

And that kind of deletion of comments is arbitrary too, because you'll see other members post stuff like that and they leave it. The system is especially difficult for newcomers.

Yep, that is the kind of experience I've had there too. I do have a growing number of questions and answers there now since I've been on there for a number of years.
The deleting of questions with no explanation is the one that really has made me mad.
I once posted to electronics.stackexchange.com (the worst snobs of all) and they deleted it.
The question was about electrolytic capacitors and I knew they were spiteful so I took a lot of time to write it up and then they deleted it as if it never existed and I wanted that question so I could think about it.
At a certain point I decided to use them as a repository of my questions. Things I find interesting I ask a question in order to keep record of them.

But if someone "new" had posted the answer they would have been shot down as being wrong, out of line, not answering the question, etc. I gave up answering on SO because of this.

Nah stack does alright if you use it as a source of existing information, asking a question OTOH is an invitation to being condescended upon.

It always amazes me the number of exercise machines on the side of the road come February.
I'm not sure how many cookies it makes to be happy, but so far it's not 27.

He's wanting to go out, but it's only just getting light enough out there - he's black and Herself doesn't want him run over and in truth, neither do I. So he's been hassling me - slapping my arm, lashing his tail, hitting my mouse, all the usual stuff.
And watching me do some Excel stuff.
Then he stands, and moves to the keyboard.
I rush for CTRL+S before he trashes a pile of stuff, but fail to get there before he walks over the keys.
But no.
Walking is not the idea, nor is typing.
He's showing me keyboard shortcuts ... Did you know the CTRL+SPACE selects the current column? And SHIFT+SPACE the current row? And CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE the current "used area"?
Because I didn't. But my cat did, and has clearly been waiting for the opportunity to educate me ...
Just where do cats learn this stuff? And what the heck is he using a spreadsheet for?

One of my cats once managed to rotate my laptop display 90 degrees. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get it back to normal, because obviously, it's not very easy Googling it on a rotated screen...
