see, someone else just said it was released, and technically they're right, but it's still not done.
like that. or the fact that core 3.0 winforms doesn't work in the designer yet last i heard.

VS2k8 was mine. It was solid, and ran on anything. The C++ compiler wasn't bad either. MS is usually hit and miss about that last bit.

For what it's worth, our primary development tool is VS2008. Three years ago we had an abortive attempt at updating to VS2015.

VS2k8 was solid. I used it for years.
Edit: I *still* use it for VST development

Install a pre-release version?
With ms products, it's best to wait until at least SP2.

i agree with the caveat that microsoft has bad luck with release N of anything where N=4
SP4 is a dog.
Windows "4" (win95) was a dog
Nt4 was alright, but NT4 SP4 was so bad it had to be recalled.

It prompted me to install 2019 this morning. The funny (or not funny) part is that I already have 2019 installed.

VS 2019 is released, and works fine; why would expect to use the WinForms ToolBox/Designer directly with Core 3.x ?

Yes, considering they're working on it right now. It works using out of proc calls, except it doesn't work yet.

i got the product wrong, i was thinking of core 3.0 preview, because of the associated winforms designer issues, i was confused about the release status of 2019.
