This question arose in my mind when someone recently asked here on the lounge what technologies he should start learning.

Look at dogs. Every time a vehicle goes down the road, they chase them till either the vehicle is out of sight or the dogs are tired.

Every 3 months, software vendors seem to release new technology that programmers feel the urge to chase.

What do you say about the similarity?
