From the post, it is a "black box". There was an "event". And there is no "log". Where is the "evidence"?
Psycho-babble about "no evidence" being evidence, is nonsense.
I expect a "chance" of evidence before I go looking for it. Regardless of "orders".
This is like exception handling without "try blocks" ... or messages.
Try and post this in Q&A under: "It's working now, but it stopped working and I don't know why" ... and see what you get.

Interesting problem.
Ignoring cost I figured it should be easy to find a solution. But I didn't find anything at all.
Most suggestions point out that the device has to be configured to generate logs. So in your case the 'switch'.
That of course depends on the exact vendor, product, version, etc.
Presuming that there is a way to do that you are also going to need somewhere to store it. And quite possible there is going to be a lot of data.
You probably also want to set up a round robin. So it only stores, for example, last 7 days before reusing the storage space. If the device doesn't do that you will need to put a server in place to proxy that.
Then you will need to figure out how to analyze the data that you do get.

Surprisingly, I actually did find a tool for this. Port sniffers have been around in software for years, bit I discovered a number of physical traffic monitors out the on the interwebs. Since the Site Controller runs through a simple switch, then through a media converter to interface with the fiber running to the generators, I think I can install one in the path between the media converter and the switch. It won't help with the recent event, but it might be a huge help if this kind of failure ever occurs again. As you mentioned, too, I only need a few days' of recording depth. If nobody visits in that time, the Grand Canyon West resort has been nuked, or nothing bad happened.

Like most orange cats, she is a tiny domesticated terrorist. I don't know why orange cats are so troublesome in general, but that has been my experience with them.
Today, while I was gone, she got onto my desk, where she is not allowed, and broke one of my prized Code Project mugs, spilling coffee all over my chair and the floor in the process.
The animal is absolutely remorseless.
She gets away with this stuff on account of being loved and being adorable. Good thing too, or we'd probably send her back.

Maybe they know their color does not rhyme with anything (in English).
Cats are weird. They are not pack oriented like we are.
We inherited a neighbor cat, we named kitty.
She was not an indoor cat.
A super bird killer.
Found her with bird feet hanging out of her mouth.
But we loved her and she knew we did.
Stayed with us for 20+ years.
Vet said she was a Persian species. They tend to have long lives.
Could not have kittens.
She still lives in our memories.
She was almost blue.

What was the sink made of, Ming dynasty porcelain? Usually it is the thing dropped that shatters. How hard did she throw the perfume to shatter a sink? If she can get that angered, upset, enraged you might think twice about keeping her as a girlfriend. But then again, considering the sink, it might be worse to NOT keep her.

All possible colors plus stripes, all at once. The Calico Tabby. Not breedable because some of the color information is on the X chromosome and only females have two X chromosomes. There are no Calico Tabby males you could breed them with.

When I was young (many moons ago) my family was out fishing, when this young calico cat came to us.
Someone had dumped her there and she was starving. She ended up eating a lot of our bait, until I caught a catfish we didn't want. She dragged that off and we didn't see her for about 1/2 hour. When she returned she was literally bulging. We took her home and she was with us for the next 18 years...

The last orange cat my wife and I had was her cat before we got married. I'll never forget that cat hanging off my blue jean back pockets screaming at me to take care of our newborn, who was loudly protesting his first bath in the kitchen sink.

Try a Siamese. I've never had one, but know of at least 4, and they're all rather aggressive. I get along with most cats, but all Siamese cats I've ever met are rather much alike.
