tl;dr: don't swear, don't spam, don't troll, don't post development questions (rants about how your development is going are fine).
Other than that, we're pretty relaxed here.

You can do this at the top right of the site.
Hover over your name and click "My settings".
You can change your display name and username there (your username is how people can @mention you and how people can link to your profile /members/username).
To sum up over 10 years of CP for me:
I still don't get the daily CCC (Cryptic Crossword third C).
We've recently started playing Wordle.

I think the third 'C' is Clue. If someone left it out, I'd expect to see an entire crossword.

Recently I got a comment on one of my articles here, and I couldn't tell if it was a defective spambot or not due to the title "Language Basics Crash Course" and a message that was completely out of context (about javascript on a C++ article)
I replied because of the ambiguity, and corrected their comment since the article was C++. Then another commenter (a real one) joined in the discussion. A couple replies later, I get a spambot replying to my reply.
I suspect within a decade the spambots here will have whole conversations with each other.
