Well ... new to me, anyway!
It's the first time I've driven a DCT, let alone with BlueEfficiency auto start stop.
It's weird, but I'm getting used to it. There is a "disconnected" feeling because the throttle is no longer directly connected to the engine; instead of setting the engine revs it's more of a speed selector and the revs rise and fall as the box changes gear for you when it decides it should. Works though - changes are very smooth and quick.
And you hardly notice it turned the engine off at the roadworks and started it again when you pull away.
My left leg is wondering what the heck it should be doing though ...

Our jeep does that. Thankfully there is a button to disable it.

I get that "disconnected" feeling in spades driving a particular CVT. It really does feel like it's driving through rubber bands, unable to settle on a ratio. The only time it is comfortable is when you engage cruise control on the highway.
My older son's car has a CVT which feel much more stable.

I've driven a CVT before, a long time ago and I really didn't like it - no engine braking, "wind up the rubber bands" feeling each time you put your foot down.
The DCT doesn't feel like that at all - if you kick down it's just instant oomph (or at worst maybe 1/2 second delay while it sorts out a gear), and when you pull away normally it's just smooth and comfortable. And with better fuel economy (which is a pretty good idea these days) thrown in.
Weird - but I'll get used to it and probably wonder why I ever drove a manual.
