Yup, had that book. Dipped my toes in the Windows development world.
386SX system, Microsoft C on diskettes. Had some Microsoft book on graphics for DOS (memory vague here).
First project was creating a "bird" (2 triangles) flying around the screen bouncing of the 4 edges.
Proud, I was. First comment was something like: "that looks like crap!". Truth often hurts.
Real project was on a fabricated, vehicle mounted "laptop" with mono screen. No flying birds.

I spent a fair while over the years working at the pointy end of various offshore racing yachts.
Haven't stepped aboard one in 20 years, but I can still tie a bowline without looking.

This be me. I can tie a bowline without looking at it. That along with a taught line hitch, Trumpet knot and your standard square knot. There really isn't anything I can't tie up/do with rope. The bowline is about the most versatile though.

I learned a lot of useful stuff from that many years back, from a library copy.
My wife got me a copy last year for a gift. It's not just informative re how to tie the knots, but the stories and explanations of what each is used for. A bit of science in it too.
Totally worth it (though I think you can get a good condition copy of it for a better price)
Best!
