I've mentioned Edge's "Read Aloud" function a few months back, saying it's actually tolerable as a text-to-speech reader. I like it 'cuz I can have it read news in the background while I'm doing something else that needs my actual focus.
Lately...it's broken. It'll pause before going through an entire sentence. Sometimes it'll resume on its own, but most of the time it'll just sit there doing absolutely nothing, and I have to click on pause/play for it to resume, and then it might make it through another sentence before it pauses again. Refreshing the page and retrying generally doesn't help.
The shortcut to it is Ctrl-Shift-U. Is anyone seeing this? I find this to be an actually useful feature, and I'd hate to give it up, especially since it's been working fine for months and months.

It seems to be working fine for me.
BTW, I use this to proof-read documents/articles before release. Your ear detects a different set of errors than you eyes.

That's a good idea - except it means booting Edge, and I try to avoid that.

Meh. You know most of it's already running all the time, it's just the browser UI that won't show up until you click its icon...

... and I was reading the "What's new?" page. Spotted the new "Reading mode":
Quote: Simplify your reading experience
You can make it easier to focus on text by reducing distractions from images and videos with Reading mode. You can also adjust the font, text size, background color, and more to what works best for you.
- Go to a site where you plan to do some reading.
- Right-click on the page and select Open in Reading Mode. Text from the site will appear in the side panel.
- Select which reading customization options to apply to the text. If you want to resize the side panel, click and hold the Drag
icon
Could be useful; I'll try it. What page ... Hmmm ... How about "What's new"? It's kinda cluttered ...

Reading mode can't find the main content on this page
Doesn't work on CP either.

Whereas Firefox's Reader View[^], which has been around for nearly 10 years, has no problems with The Lounge.

It's useful for when you're reading a news site and then they pop up that "Subscribe or become a member to read this article." I enable Reading Mode and, sometimes, the text behind the paywall or signupwall will be revealed.

You've done it, finally Microsoft. All your effort paid off. You successfully drove me away from using any of your mail clients as of now.
On top of all of the other problems I've had since Microsoft forced Outlook on Windows users just now I was typing an email and the stupid app just crashes. Goes away. Right in the middle of me typing. How professional.
Launch again and the Draft is just empty.
Microsoft clearly does not want me to trust them, or to use their insipid, software shaped garbage like Office.

Unfortunately, TB fails at the first hurdle for me. Trying to access my Office365 email account, it opens a window with an embedded browser to sign in. That embedded browser blocks all cookies, so the login just redirects to an error message.
On top of that, the last time I tried it, it didn't find any of the folders in my account; only Inbox, Sent, and Trash were shown.

If it's an imap account in TB you have to subscribe to the folders you want to see ( it's a one off thing )

Try SMTP/POP3. I'm sure MS still supports it, even for O365 email. Your credentials would be saved locally, and TB should provide them when logging onto the server and never bother you with them ever again.

The bird works for, used to use Eudora but when Qualcomm made open source dev stopped and T-Bird was the only non-M$ mail client (had a nasty experience with Outlook Express) also it runs on Linux the same!

ThunderBird was too slow for me. I keep most everything and have about 7 accounts. Maybe that had something to do with it.
I purchased Em Client and it has worked great for about a year or so now.

I am very confused why anyone would continue with gmail or Microsoft email application.
I switched to Proton Mail (free) 4 years ago.
NO SPAM lot of free features some you need to pay for.
OK I am not promoting Proton Mail
But as a Novice computer enthusiast what am I missing?
