This is a follow up to my earlier post about Dutch truck drivers[^].
I just want to say that the Germans and Belgians are definitely better drivers than the Dutch. Driving the German autobahn was actually quite a pleasant experience. I found that while some cars go crazy fast, most are quite respectable and go a decent speed. And even the crazy fast ones will slow down and keep their distance when they caught up to me if I happened to be passing another vehicle, and would wait till I cleared the fast lane before accelerating off. All in all, a very pleasant experience. That is until I got back into the Netherlands, what a gong show that countries drivers are.
It's good to home again.

The German police seems to think so too, after returning from my holiday in the Mosel region I got a fine for speeding near Aachen
Luckily they did not notice my driving on pavements

My only fine so far has also been from Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. I believe I was going 4 over the limit or something not to ridiculous. If I remember right, it was EUR 30.

Dang, fine count is now 2. Another EUR 40 and second time I was 4 over the limit.

You should try Mexico.
In Mexico hazard signals mean "I'm about to do something profoundly stupid with my car, so watch out"

They do that in Quebec. Only, they don't bother using their signals to warn you ahead of time.
Especially when they see a car with Ontario plates.

I read years ago that Germany was really strict on road rules. Quick google suggests that is still true.
So they can lose their license very quickly if they are not careful.

I loved driving in Germany. 99% of the drivers follow 99% of the rules... and the other 1% follow 100% of the rules! What a breeze! Some friends and I drove 880 kilometers (550 miles) in 4 hours actual travel time, setting off at 0400 and arriving at 0900 with two stops for petrol and one for breakfast. No incidents, no scares, smooth driving the whole way. We even had a German police car politely move out of our way when we signalled that we wanted to overtake. The slowest part of the journey was when we went over the border into the Netherlands and had to slow down (stupid speed limits!)
- I would love to change the world, but they wonβt give me the source code.

I usually listen to podcasts while driving (I have an hour drive to my workplace), using the Android mirroring from my mobile phone to the car, and Google podcast.
Today, it vanished from the app list. I thought of a bug but Google has actually shut down the service - or moved it to youtube music, which means the same.
Any recommendation of a good podcasting app ? Google podcast was light-weighted, had one ad every other month and very well integrated in my car media system. My gut feeling tells me that youtube music is clucked with advertisement, and being based on a video streaming app, not necessarily the most light-weighted thing in the world.

I listen to Star Talk on spotify and it has worked really well. Most podcasts are available there.

I use Spotify for music and all podcasts. I pay for it to avoid ADS. I think you can get all podcasts for free, if you endure those ads. Have no idea how intrusive they are, if they've done it well we ads are short.

Believe it or not...I'm still listening to podcasts on my Zune, almost daily.
Ultimately a podcast has a URL (preferably from an RSS feed), and a link to an MP3. The Zune software no longer works with many sites, so I've automated the retrieval of the actually MP3 file, and point my Zune software to it - as far as it's concerned, it doesn't see any different. Don't feed the beasts (I'm specifically looking at you, Apple Podcasts and Spotify)
As to where exactly you might find a good, reliable URL for your podcast, YMMV.

following this. I use either iHeart Media which is sending me lots of ads or SiriusXM which I pay for(I know) but XM doesn't have all my favorite podcasts. So if I find something better I would jump in a second.
