It is not that dumb... why do you need to create hijacks in webs, when you can hijack things that people download voluntarily and integrate in their own project, hijacking the apps that use it.
It is an exponential growth if you succeed with a popular project.

I'm not an Apple guy, and one day a year or so ago, out of curiosity, I played with one in the store. When I couldn't get the right-hand scroll bar to come up IN SAFARI, so I could use the mouse the old-fashioned way, I realized we've reached the heights of stupidity.

And yet all these warning are being ignored because they are just "fiction"...
The only consolation I have is, that it will take a big while to create a real AI. And hopefully human kind has won a bit more wisdom until that moment.

If they know exactly how much money you've got, they can target ads at you even more precisely -- that's a big advancement, from the PoV of selling ad services
The fact that you won't buy things based on unsolicited Internet advertisements is irrelevant to them; they get paid for the ads, not for selling products.
