Whitespace is like white noise, meaningless and random. Tabs bring order out of chaos.

for both tabs and spaces
and peace and silence.

I, too, have a peaceful gesture: I use the tab key but have the environment set to convert them to spaces.
The former, so that it's convenient.
The latter so that the look is not obscene when tab settings change in different viewers.
