The “big” news that I announced at TechEd this week was a new API for accessing Visual Studio Online (and, in a future release, Team Foundation Server). This new API is based on REST, OAUTH, Json and Service Hooks – all standard web technologies broadly supported in the industry. The API is still currently in preview while we take feedback and refine it. Help Microsoft decide who to buy next by integrating with VS Online

And if they had built it on WCF or web services, they wouldn't need four separate "technologies", where OAUTH is apparently not that secure and JSON is schema-less and therefore non-validating.

Microsoft gives consumers running Windows 8.1 an extra 30 days to install Windows 8.1 Update. Does the install actually take that long?

I still can't upgrade to 8.1, let alone the update to that.

If you can't upgrade to 8.1 then you'll be OK for about a year. Microsoft will still serve you patches. It's only if you're actually on 8.1 that they won't - unless you update that to 8.1 Update.

I set the active version with "kvm use version" and opened two command prompts, setting different CLR and .NET versions in each.
Gosh, Microsoft finally provides what the Ruby on Rails folks have been using for years now with tools like RVM. Woohoo!
Oh and look, even the syntax is the same!
