After totally dropping FB (well, the acct is still there, so, more like 'separation', and I 'unfriended', 'unfollowed' and 'unLIKEd' everyone, every page, every whatever), I'm totally bored in the mornings and evenings, and I'm not as 'riled' up about "issues of the nano-second".

Not a single FB friend has called or tweeted or IM'd me and asked "where are you?" or "Haven't heard from ya in a while".
Most don't even know I have a new job.

This is my biggest peeve with marketing analytics, and the reason I opt out or block every chance I get. It's not because I don't want "relevant ads". It's because I'm tired of advertisers thinking relevant=="regurgitate what I've already bought".

Yep, I would more than welcome real relevant ads as I often just don't know what would make a good fit with my last purchase. But it isn't going to happen unless some even more intrusive scanning of my web activity / emails / other communication.
As for now I know I need only one set of winter tires, but how does that ad service know I already bought them? I maybe I'm still browsing?
Why it's still showing me everywhere winter tires of every possible type and size? I just won't do any good. But show me some snow shovels and who knows?

It speaks directly to the subject........I am sure if you sit back and think about what she is saying and relate it to the people around you, you easily begin to spot what she is talking about! I witnessed it with my wifes career progression and how she thought of herself vs her capability.

I have noticed that the confidence we display tends to be dependent on the feedback we receive in our environment.
If you are never given the chance to prove yourself, or someone is always watching over your back, it's difficult to feel like you are doing the right thing.
One of my closest friends worked at a company for 10 years, straight out of college. She didn't advance much, and wasn't confident in her abilities. That is until she was put on a project where the lead dev didn't develop, and most of the problems were solved by her alone.
Skipping the other details, that was the catalyst to her confidence and now she works for NASA at JPL.
I didn't read the article, just sharing an anecdotal experience...

Scripting languages are used in everything from games and Web pages to operating-system shells and general applications, as well as standalone scripts. They allow the harried developer to do his or her job without engaging in the full compile-test-edit lifecycle; with a script, it’s just edit-and-run. And there's probably a really good reason why

Both the Gartner and IDC research firms have submitted their PC shipment numbers for the fourth quarter of 2014, but this time they appear to be in a disagreement. Gartner says that worldwide shipments of PCs went up by 1% during the final quarter of 2014, while IDC counters that with a 2.4% decline.
