Legacy code (outdated to the point of obsolescence) is currently being created at a rate never before seen in the history of IT. "Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"

Trill, a new development from Microsoft Research, is one such project. A 'simple' .NET library, Trill can process data at levels that are two to four orders of magnitude beyond those of its nearest competitors. A new toy you might be interested in

Microsoft's Joe Belfiore revealed via Twitter today that Windows 10 devices with a screen size less than 8-inches will not have a desktop. This means phones, phablets, and small tablets will not have a desktop. Now where am I going to keep all my files?

This security hole, which impacts many older versions of Linux and some current ones, should be patched as soon as possible. "I see dead people"

Almost two years ago, the Norwegian browser firm Opera ripped out the guts of its product and adopted the more standard WebKit and Chromium technologies, essentially making it more like rivals Chrome and Safari. But it wasn’t just Opera’s innards that changed; the browser also became more streamlined and perhaps less… geeky. "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I saw it elsewhere earlier this morning; at first glance after download it appears to've added back a lot of the stuff that Opera-Presto had whose absence has kept me from downgrading to Opera-Chrome. I need longer than a 30 second glance at while puttering around before heading to the shower before making any more solid of a judgment though.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Pluralsight have taken on Code School[^] and are offering 72 hours of free Code School video training ... if anyone is interested
Forgot to mention in the body of this post that you only have until noon EST on Friday, January 30th to redeem your free access.

True! However I have availed myself of the opportunity
I do rate Pluralsight courses, not convinced with what I've seen so far of the CS stuff though.
Will be interesting to see how they (PS) bring the other stuff "into the fold"

Do note that PluralSight requires you provide credit-card information to take advantage of free offers, and that you agree your free subscription will change to a paid-for subscription if you do not cancel your free subscription before it expires.
They will also charge your credit-card US $1.
«I'm asked why doesn't C# implement feature X all the time. The answer's always the same: because no one ever designed, specified, implemented, tested, documented, shipped that feature. All six of those things are necessary to make a feature happen. They all cost huge amounts of time, effort and money.» Eric Lippert, Microsoft, 2009

I'd forgotten about having to give the card details, but there was no automatic charge after my free trial ran out - I wonder if they've changed their style?
The Code School stuff on the link I didn't have to give card details for... but they may have detected my pluralsight membership. I don't know what they do normally.
Good comment from you though ... just proves there is no such thing as a free lunch course

Hi, I actually signed up for the PluralSight (not the Code School offer) free trial after you posted about it here a while ago. And, they did charge my card US $1 immediately.
cheers, Bill

Looks like the OP's removed this copy of the message, although the copy in the Lounge[^] is still live.
