Google suspends Map Maker because of vandalism[^] [BBC]
"Map Maker allowed users to draw features, adding roads, rivers, green spaces and local businesses. But some edits, such as an image of its Android mascot urinating on an Apple logo, were not as welcome."

Agile projects get the most out of people, with huge payoffs in productivity and effectiveness. But you have to choose those people carefully to avoid blow-ups. Bonus #5: Your 'downward-facing dog' looks more like 'leaning moose'

Developers who… Are unwilling to pursue rough-cut solutions
So a good developer not accepts (when no immediate alternatives left) a rough solution, but pursues it?!
Or a good agile developer is the antithesis of good developer?!
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

The biggest risk with agile is when the process becomes more important that the task at hand. Like anything, you should pick the bits that fit around your culture and use them without slavishly adhering to a process that may end up being detrimental to the development process. If you have a good team, learn to trust them.

Agreed: it is particularly ironic for agile. Quite amusing.

Oh man, what is he smoking?
I guess we're in the "mature methodology" stage now, which is defined as "a methodology, having no proven track record, but which has been a fad for long enough that people no longer question its use but instead claim extravagant benefits."
[edit] By the way, those warning signs are not signs that Agile is broken, those are warning signs that the project is broken, whether you use Agile or a Ouija board as your methodology. [/edit]

GitHub platform has become the world's source code repository. But with success come security and privacy concerns. I find it strange that's the first time I've heard "GitHub" and "dork" in the same sentence.

Makes me wonder why github can't build some of those functions in directly. ex if it detects that you've uploaded what looks like a private key, it initially blocks visibility of the commit to anyone else and sends an "Are you Elephanting sure you wanted to do that?" email to the guilty party and/or the repo owner (for business users).
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Shortly after the release of an AP report asserting that Google's self-driving cars have been involved in four accidents since last September, the company published a post on Backchannel today — the Medium-based publication from former Wired writer Steven Levy — to dive into more detail on all the accidents it has experienced with the project since it first took to the streets six years ago. Who do you share license details with after the crash?

With Microsoft Edge, we want to fundamentally improve security over existing browsers and enable users to confidently experience the web from Windows. We have designed Microsoft Edge to defend users from increasingly sophisticated and prevalent attacks. Pwahahaha! They kill me.

The one thing in that article that I found most interesting is that MS is, at least partially, garbage collecting memory in IE instead of doing deallocation the conventional C++ way. I really hope MS expands on that announcement with information about how much of the app has been retrofitted.

This week, the Telerik development team made the JustDecompile decompilation engine source code is available on GitHub. Yes, we are making the code open source under the Apache 2.0 license. Thus saving you from just decompiling it

When I saw the thread title (but before opening the post) I thought the same thing. So make that three great minds.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???
