That would prove that there is no intelligent life on Earth!
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

And if you allow aliens not be made of water and needing of oxygen, then the probability of life somewhere sometimes is a gazillion times bigger

Nothing they've said, not a thing, is new.

The best explanation is that there isn't any. The arguments in the article are simply wild guesses since they can't be confirmed.

I often wonder what the state of "intelligent life" on Earth would be had the dinosaurs not been wiped out.
Did it set us back? Did it allow us to accelerate?

I think that someone forgot the size! of the (un)known universe. The 'where' (should be everywhere) didn't took us to see not even a small fraction of it, so how one can tell we didn't saw?!
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

So far, the only examples of sentient life we’ve found are right here on our own planet.
But I'm just visiting

I don't know what is worst:
To discover that we do are alone in the universe.
or
To discover that we are not.

... the sort of vacuous argument that caused me to stop reading gizmodo.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.

I personally love an idea in presented in this absolute gem of a video of why we haven't found alien life:
Simulated Reality - YouTube[^]
Once you can explore inwards, it takes much less energy and time and unleashes a world of possibilities that the physical realm can't offer, making outward exploration rather pointless. Your mind becomes the universe and much more

This includes creating and consuming local .NET Standard Libraries, but also adding .NET Standard Libraries from NuGet directly to your Xamarin apps. Cross-platform .NET apps: now cross-platformer

You can now buy Microsoft’s HoloLens Development Edition, the company’s futuristic augmented reality helmet, without having to go through an application process. I can think of other ways I'd rather augment my reality for $3K

Won't Trump attack Canada for being too liberal or thinking it's Iraq or simply just because?
It's also safe to talk about Trump in any forum on CP, at least it's not politics

I am surprised they are not looking at it as a virtual monitor. that way get a great market for people that want to have the advantage of a massive display without having to have a massive display.

I've always considered the holographic monitor to be the next really big thing in computing. This idea almost makes it!

A recent survey found that while developers are into newer languages like Swift, Rust, and Scala, businesses prefer the stalwarts -- and Python can bridge the gap between the two If you know where it's broke...
You mean, companies don't jump to newer languages like F# to rewrite their stuff? Irony!
OK, not Irony, but I needed to tie it to the brand of previous threads.

Businesses stick with Windows XP, IE8 or even older, XML, COBOL...
No wonder though, every change, no matter how small, must be presented in threefold and pass five layers of management.
Meanwhile management is playing golf
They've given such companies a name too... The enterprise! *dramatic music for effect* (not to be confused with the spaceship from Star Wars, Gandalf will not have it)
