In yet another victory for the machines this week, Microsoft detailed an AI system — Super Phoenix, or Suphx for short — capable of besting champions at Mahjong. Did it also learn how to play while drinking heavily?
Or maybe it's just the people I know that play it.

I live in hope that ms will one day relearn how to do useful things.

A new report shows that businesses continue to use older operating systems such as Windows 7, and even Windows Vista, even though they are no longer supported and less secure compared to Windows 10. If you're happy and you know it, keep using Weven
It's the people still using Vista that I feel for.
I suspect these will be "updated" when the hardware gets replaced.

Once upon a time there was Weven, and everyone was happy, and the world was a wonderful place.
Then ms fixed it.

They better hope the decrypting works - this is how companies immediately declare bankruptcy.
Years ago, a customer of mine contracted with a local telco firm for IP services - internet, phones, etc. Monday morning came and nothing was working, so a support call was made. The recording:
"We are aware of the current issue facing our customers and are working to correct the problem. Please be patient."
That was in the morning. By Monday afternoon, the phone number had been disconnected. Turns out that the company never bothered to backup their switching system and what not. Over the weekend it crashed. They instantly declared bankruptcy.
That reminds me, I need to do backups

On the International Space Station, clusters of nerve cells called mini-brains are developing in ways that scientists didn’t previously think was possible. If you put your ear next to the dish, you hear 'exterminate' a lot
A LOT.

Yet another "What could POSSIBLY go wrong?" venture.
The thing about science fiction is that a lot of it (the non-televised and non-movie variety) is written by people who know a lot about what they're talking about.
And an awful lot of Sci-Fi stories centre precisely on what can go wrong with experimental work like this -- and, more importantly, they point out the indicators to look for, which show when the experiments are going wrong, because the writers have had the time to think objectively about such things.
Someone sign the International Space Station up to a Sci-Fi book club, eh?

Yes, the same as all developers are only there to make a buck.
There are absolutely zero professionals in either profession, obviously.

Testers often don’t really understand the business or the application’s users, and they rarely interact with the developers or stakeholders. "A well-stocked mind is safe from boredom."
But really - what's the 'what'?

What's boring about testing?
0. Load it up.
1. Fire it up.
2. Read a book.
Sounds like la dolce vita, to me.
