Often the lines between these two roles get blurred. So, which role describes you best, are you a software engineer or a software developer? Potato, potato
It reads more like the difference between senior/junior to me, but YMMV

I'm an engineered developer. Seemed like a good place to hide from the rest of society's social engineering.

Both, and throw in any other IT related roles that go into running a small software company such as server/hw management, asset management, security, customer support, etc..

Somewhere, long ago (in the b.u. ages, Before URLs) I read that crows can count to 4, 5+ is 'many'.
The way they learned this: This farmer was so much plagued by crows eating his cherries off the trees that he wanted to shoot them. But as soon as he arrived with his shotgun, the crows flew away, but returned once he disappeared.
He had this shed in his cherry orchard, and could shoot the crows from a small window. But the birds saw the man enter the shed, not coming out, so the danger was still there: They did not return to the fruit until the man had left the shed and gone away.
So the farmer got help from his friends: Two guys entered the shed, one left. The crows kept count: There is still one guy left, the danger is not over. Three guys in, two out: Still dangerous. Four in, three out: Same. Five (/many) in, four out: More than four had entered, only four left, so return to the trees is still dangerous.
Not until six (i.e. "many") guys entered the shed and five ("many") left the shed did the crows loose count: Many had entered, many had left, then we are safe! The fruit farmer got within shooting range of the range, and managed to get the crows off his farm.
(I am sorry that I cannot provide even a reference to a printed version of this story; I don't remember where I read it. It fascinated me enough for it to stick in my memory even without a reference )
