A tweet by a Microsoft developer has caused a bit of hubbub today after it implied Microsoft was rewriting all of their Office Suite in Javascript. I thought I had an explanation of Outlook's performance there for a while

I saw that last week and thought his clarification wasn't much of one. How does someone so illiterate become manager of anything? (Yeah, if you can't do, manage.)

While most of the attention is on .NET Core, work continues on the classic .NET Framework. An "early access” preview of .NET 4.8 shows the areas that Microsoft is most concerned about including high graphics Dots per Inch (DPI), accessibility, and concurrency. That's regular .NET, not Core, Standard, nor Menthol

Although many businesses have begun moving to DevOps-style processes, eight out of 10 respondents to a new survey say they still have separate teams for managing infrastructure/operations and development. This news brought to you by the department of, "If it ain't broke, you don't need to lay off half your staff and get the remainder to do the same amount of work"
I'm still working on a bumper sticker version of that. I think it might be a while.

A listing for an all-hands internal meeting appeared about what seems like a new project: Scout. So you can tell your computer where to go (in case you don't already)

This would be a better application of Microsoft's own ad-line "Where do you want to go today?"

How lazy do we have to be? "I can't lift my hands to type anymore". If you are surfing for something other than music for listening, most likely you will be right there at the screen. This ranks right up there with the invention of the straw. I can get the cup within 2 inches of my lips...but then my arm gets tired...
Maybe I'm too much of an introvert. I don't like talking to people, why would I talk to a computer?

The maker of Snapchat has introduced Snap Kit, a full-fledged developer kit that allows app makers to bring core features of Snapchat to their apps. I'd make some kind of appropriate joke here, but I'm really too old to know just what SnapChat is.
Something to do with overlaying rabbit ears on Chris during the weekly standup?

Microsoft officials said the Windows 10 April 2018 Update is rolling out to all compatible devices now, two-and-a-half months after its phased rollout began. It's always April somewhere?

The report claims Microsoft is in the process of developing its own systems for tracking what people place in their shopping carts, but doesn’t offer the details of how Microsoft’s technology operates, or how it may differ from others on the market. It looks like you're trying to buy bananas. Would you like help with that?
