I don't know if there is extraterrestial intelligence (but I don't deny it either).
I only know that if they are really intelligent and have common sense they will get the hell out of here.
If they come... it is not going to end well, either for them or for us (most probably for us).

Mac users who rely on Windows virtualization software might be left in the lurch when Apple transitions to its own custom ARM processors later this year, as the company's Rosetta Intel-to-ARM translator does not support virtual machine apps. Looks like Apple has decided to save me some money

The company says it will now delete new users’ history after 18 months -- on a rolling basis -- by default. After all, that's ancient history in internet months
They get to prune data that may not be relevant anymore, and make themselves looks slightly, slightly, every so slightly less evil.

And what about the "old" users?

They have to set this (but the "good" news is that you can set to "only" 3 months).
Oh and because we all trust them:

To me, there is not much difference between "information" and "information marked as deleted". It is still information.

Exactly...
I don't think they are going to actually delete data. At least not as long as they can have some usage for it, another thing is obsolete or really irrelevant data. That's something they will probably delete gladly to (as Kent said above) reduce the amount to deal with and to try to look a bit "less evil"

Wen asked several times for a quick and easy way to install the most useful extensions, I said “sure, I’ll make an extension pack”. Because Visual Studio is never big enough
|
|
|
|
|
This new extension pack has two requirements:
Must only contain extensions relevant to all developers (Emphasis added)
Seems if that's the criteria, Visual Studio would have it. And thank goodness he included icons!

Really
They need to try harder. 2/7
I can't remember the last time I created a file that it didn't make sense to go through the new file wizard for, or that wasn't created elsewhere and drag/dropped in. Not worth bloating context menus even farther for something I might use a few times/year.
Again, I can't remember the last time I did any of these. off UI bloat.

Don't use this.

Actually this is the first one I installed, it has a icons for a few file types I occasionally use that VS doesn't.
For 2-3 times/year, going to my browser is a small price to pay for less UI bloat.
Could be useful, second one I installed.
I don't edit markdown in VS. Ever.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Sort of like "The International Obfuscated APL Coding Contest".

I suppose in the US is the same or even worse, but I am only to speak about Germany.
Working for Company A in Munich for let's say 5000€ a month... and working for the same company remotely from let's say Gunzenhausen with 4000€ a month... I think I would get the second option.
Some cities are just damned expensive and 50% or 60% of the salary is gone in fixed costs.
Living anywhere else might get that % reduced drastically. So depending on how big the cut is and where you live, you might finish the month with more money in your account.

Brilliant. So companies can save money by reducing office space, remote workers tend to work longer hours (this is based on a survey of one, namely me, but anecdotally from my coworkers as well) and sick employees that can work remotely often work at home while under the weather...
...and we get a pay cut.
