Federal government agencies are now required to obtain a self-attestation from any third-party software providers they use. This is essentially a guarantee from the vendor that their product meets minimum NIST standards for secure software development. Would a 'pinky swear' count?

This is in line with the American Data Privacy and Protection Act (H.R. 8152) working its way through Congress. So far I generally like what I'm seeing in this Act. Section 103 is titled "Privacy by design" and focuses entirely on software companies self-certifying they are writing code that's secure by design.
It looks like this Act was written by people who actually understand data security and privacy issues.

IOW, the security is as reliable as a marketer's promise.

Big news in the world of digital creative technology: Adobe today announced that it would acquire Figma for $20 billion, taking out one of its biggest rivals in the realm of digital design. yeah cause rounding such large numbers is not an issue., even if just 19.8, that's rounding of 200 MILLION, enough to buy millions of companies.
stop rounding. rant over, just a recent realisation that I need a reasonable why to questions and things to close these loops in my thinking😣

Do aliens exist? Almost certainly. The Universe is vast and ancient, and our corner of it is not particularly special. If life emerged here, it probably did elsewhere. People keep giving them money to do it?

Nitin S wrote: earth is going closer and closer to sun, apparently it is gonna dry out totally Is that an attempt to explain the global heating, in such a way that no human activity is to blame, it is not at all affected by emissions or other kinds of pollution or artifacts of human activity?
Actually, I never before heard this about earth getting closer to the sun and therefore drying out. I'd be happy if you would dig up some scientifically reliable sources on that. (Research done by Pakistani scientists this year is particularly welcome ).

lol. I suppose you are joking...
Actually, the sun slows down about 3 milliseconds every 100 years. As it does so, the earth is getting farther away from the sun ever so slightly, but not enough to make a difference to anything us humans would notice.
Maybe in about 100 billion years it might be a mile further away from the sun, assuming the sun hasn't gone nova by then.

So I saw the responses, including the "repetition sentences" which probably resulted in the account termination. But I take pride in defending the innocent and minorities.
I hope it wasn't the remnants of this comment that caused his account to be terminated.Nitin S wrote:

The general consensus is that Sun is growing and will eventually consume the inner planets. The Sun "pulses" but the general consensus is that it's growing much faster than the Earth is moving away.
Hopefully this wasn't why the account was terminated. If so shame on you, he was correct.
Nitin S, you are correct. I'm sorry your account was banned.

Randor wrote: The general consensus is that Sun is growing
Interesting. I would say it would be more correct, then, to say the Sun is getting closer to the Earth. But whatever. I guess both views are correct at the same time.

????? Weird. Maybe it was some other comment. In any case, I don't see a reason for the banishment. At least not from these comments.
Maybe it's because he mentioned the dread politicized subject "GW".
