Does anyone know where we can find a proficiency test for C++. Our HR people are requiring it before we can hire someone. Don't have a choice about this.

Talk them out of it or give them a joke one. These sorts of tests are meaningless. Better to ask them about the last project they were on, why they chose to do it a particular way and what tools did they choose, etc. You know what I mean. Much more effective. Point HR here: Interviewing[^]/

there are around 45 questions
and all questions will be MCQ's (multiple choice questions)
there is now negative marking.
but the weightage of marks for all question vary
u have around 2 hours to complete the test ...
&
u need 700 marks to pass the test

u need 70% marks to pass the exam.
there are specific books from microsoft press for the preparation of exams. read out that book.

Hello All..
Am trying to configure my e mail account on outlook 2003, but am facing a problem: cannot connect to outgoing mail server, while connection to ingoing mail server is OK, (i can receive but can't send), bare in mind that both servers are same, and i didnt mistaken in spelling.
More clarification: I tried to configure it on another PC, on the same network, things gone fine, i could receive and send, also my team mate can.
It is only on my PC, I tried alot but no result i checked the spelling, confirmed the password, everything, so i suspect that may be there is some configuration that i must do before?
Plz help, Urgent...

If the POP3 server is the same as the SMTP server then the differentiator is the port. Is there a firewall active and blocking SMTP?

But the firewall on my machine is disabled, and as i mentioned, it worked on another machines, same account , but its only on my pc. so any thing else in mind???

Feel free to laugh, joke or insult me, but I was curious:
What are the odds of someone employing a self-taught programmer, in the early stages of University?
Taking into account you would need to get them to let you prove your skills, I expect them to be low.
By self taught, I reckon I'm at a competent level. I don't have too many specialist areas but I would say I know enough about coding to debug and write basic stuff, if only to keep more qualified people less busy.
Also, I wouldnt expect anyone has actually been employed from this status?
(On a side note, this post marks my becoming a "Regular"  ).

Without qualifications or an employment history the only way you'll be able to persuade an employer to take you on is by offering to work for little or nothing, at least until you have been able to prove your value.
I could see a very small and informally organised company using someone who came with no paper or history but who demonstrated ability to do grunt work at a cheap rate, but not any glossy corporate partner.
I was horrified recently to learn of a UK company offering "work experience" to unemployed people and charging them thousands of pounds for it - just to get 'experience' on their CV!

Oh yuck... I wouldn't pay anything for experience. I'd rather make it up than pay for it, instead of being able to write "I have repeatedly been ripped off" on my CV.
Thanks for the input. I'm not properly considering getting a job as a programmer, since Uni takes up most of the day, but student work is easy enough to find round here.
Just means, if I drop out of Uni then I know I'm safe...but I'm not pessismistic enough for that.

I've been pretty lucky in my job search but I considerably put odds on my side by working on my employability skills, right off the bat my boss told me he hired me because I seemed to be a go-getter ! From my small experience, there seem to be no course that would've helped me with the skills to make the job, working efficiently (not perfectly) and completing your projects will probably be a great asset.

I have an application Ensemblepro, which shows realtime stats of the business in our organisation. It uses remote DB to store. and i didnt know the structure of the DB. (Limited Access). I need to get the real time data ?????? From that application in any format???
Can anyone post ur suggestions...
