I just moved to a company that uses Oracle for almost all their database stuff. Having never used PL/SQL and being used to SQL Server, I'm on a bit of a steep learning curve. Even though I'm a decent T-SQL programmer, there's a bit to pick up, and I need to become productive quickly.
I reckon I need two things ;
A step-by-step introduction book, with real-world worked examples and the like, to get me going and give me the knowledge I need to do the job as quickly as possible, and;
A small reference guide to the PL/SQL language, to have at my desk 24/7 for when I need specific, indexed information on a subject.
Has anyone had any experience with Oracle or PL/SQL literature? Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions guys and gals.
All the dude ever wanted... was his rug back.

Look around at Oracle forums.

By this I am referring to the hottest trend of the industry like SAS, SAP, PeopleSoft, OracleFinancials etc....
assuming experience being equal with these skills..

It also depends on which piece of dirt you're standing on.
But, why even bother with the "hottest trend" in the industry? It'll be something else next month.

You'll never be underpaid if you become a guru in network and system security. And I mean the hot sh*t - holy crap we've been hacked, get us somebody to track these guys type of security here.

Click "Start | Run" type mstsc , this will bring up the remote desktop connection. Provide the computer name or IP address and you will get connected to remote machine. Remote machine must have "My Computer (Right Click) | Properties | Remote | Remote Desktop | Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" checked.

Paresh.

Does anyone know where we can find a proficiency test for C++. Our HR people are requiring it before we can hire someone. Don't have a choice about this.

Talk them out of it or give them a joke one. These sorts of tests are meaningless. Better to ask them about the last project they were on, why they chose to do it a particular way and what tools did they choose, etc. You know what I mean. Much more effective. Point HR here: Interviewing[^]/

So when he said "Don't have a choice" you thought that meant he had a choice? Your projects must be ..... really fun.
