I am using SQL Server 2000 on back end and .Net C sharp on front end. Server is connected with more than 30 users.
On user’s computers there are different files having different formats like MS Word, Excel, Txt and Visio etc with more than 4 MB size.
I want to see these files through database, edit, save them and resend to users through database on LAN.
How Can I Do All This in Window Application without sharing any directory?
Best Regards and Thanks for your kind Help:

If you want to pass them using the database, check out storing binary data in a table.
SQl 2005 support large data as binary, i suppose SQL 2000 has the image (or text but is limited) field for this.
Otherwise you'll can store the IP Addresses of each client and send it using the windows socket.
Another way to do it is using a FTP server and store and retrieve them bij using FTP connections.
It's called FILE Transfer Protocol for some reason
the choice is your's...

Hi, I have a requirement that as follows
In front end i have a dropdown with options English, Spanish, German,
chinese, Japan etc.
What ever the language i have selected in dropdown, i need to create a table to store the corressponsindg language data. I am not knowing how to create a table with culture specific? For each language, different table to be created.
Can any one help on this? If possible, plz provide code for me. or modify the below code
This code is general for creating a table
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Tbl_Names]
(
[SeedID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[Indian_First_Names] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL,
[Indian_Last_Names] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL,
[Gender] [varchar](20) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL,
[Culture] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL
)
ON [PRIMARY]

you must use two table with foreign key in another table.
One table include (SeedID,FirstName,LastName,Gender and CultureID foreign key) and another table include(CultureID PrimeryKey,Culture)

This is the repost as my code snippet was not formatted correctly.
I have got a field in a table which is of xmltype, say file_block
the data for the same is structured as shown below
<data type="Structure">
<control id="txtWeight">
<value>74</value>
</control>
<control id="txtHeight">
<value>174</value>
</control>
</data>
And the above structure is taken in different ways for different
purposes in project so i cannot change that
DATA VALUE
txtWeight 74
txtHeight 174
Now how could i retrieve the data as a tabular structure as shown above using xquery. Please help if anyone know how to do that

is only taking the content 174 and 74 only while removing all other

please read my code by prepending the appropriate line with '<')

hi all,
I want to do following task as programmaticaly (not manually) to Allow Remote Connection
1.Enable the Shared memory, Named Pipes, TCP/IP protocols in SQL Server Configuration.
2.Allow Local And Remote connection which we perform IN SQL Surface area configuration.
3.Restart SQL Browser and SQL Server After making changes.
4.Create Login on Remote SQL Server
I face above problem when i Installed SQL Express on one machine and Try to connect to Remote SQL Server. Also if I want to Connect to Remote server, then Guest Account(or SQL Authentication) must be Configured on Remote machine. So how can i Configure the Account on remote server Programmatically or how can i Get the Configured account which is on Remote server . so using this account information i can connect to Remote SQLServer.
one more thing I am able connect to Remote server using trusted connection but failed to connect to Database. I use Following statement to connect to Remote SQL Server
Dim MainServer As Server = New Server(cboServer.Text.Trim & "\SQLEXPRESS")<br />
With MainServer.ConnectionContext<br />
.LoginSecure = True<br />
.ConnectionString = "Trusted_Connection=Yes;"<br />
.Connect()<br />
.PublicServerName = cboServer.Text.Trim<br />
frmLogin.Show()<br />
Me.Close()<br />
.Disconnect()<br />
End With
but i am unable to Use Databse which reside on Remote server. I use following connection string
Dim ConnectionString As String = "Data Source=" & PublicServerName & "\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=ABC "
or
Dim ConnectionString As String =Data Source=" & PublicServerName & "\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=ABC;Trusted_Connection=Yes; "'
but this time it give error "Login failed for user MachineName\Guest"
I try lot of googling but nothing is helpful. Please provide appropriate guidance to me

Hi,
You can use SAC command line utility for importing configurations. Restarting services would be most easy with NET START / NET STOP commands and after that the login can be created using T-SQL (CREATE LOGIN ).
Hope this helps,
Mika

sir, can i change the default setting during installation of SQL Server.Importanat thing is that i want to Install SQL Server In Silent mode and i want to change all specified setting during Installation
|
|
|
|
|
Ok,
Most of the settings can be configured during silent installation. The key is TEMPLATE.INI-file. Have a look at this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144259.aspx[^].
I don't remember if all of the things you wanted to do are possible. For example login creation may not be possible, but you can always use a custom command line script, which first runs install and configuration and then use (for example) OSQL to create login silently.
Hope this helps,
Mika

I have one table and the columns are exactly as they should be. I am sent new data that needs to match the columns headings of this first table exactly. How do I create a sql query (it's really in Access) that does a quick compare and show me any differences or how the new violates the standard?
|
|
|
|
|
By violates do you mean violates a foreign key?
|
|
|
|
|
There are no keys. I simply want to check the column headings with a table we know is correct with the new incoming table. How does the new table (if at all) differ from the standard (I know the columns are right) table.
