Hi,
could anyone help me with my problem? I would like to create windows service to monitor and log outputs from a hardware PCI card (special card connected to some sensors ...) This is simple and I am able to do it, but there is second usage of the service and I don't know how to do it. I have another applications (Windows applications) and they need to connect to the service and receive the data from HW card each time the data changed. It would be great if I'll able to connect to some interface of the service and catch some event OnChange or something similar. I don't know if it is possible and if yes how to do it.
Is it possible or is there better way to do this?

Have you tried doing that with .NET remoting? It supports sending events.
Or better yet, have a look at WCF. It supports memory pipes as the communication channel. It should be ideal.

Thanks for answer. No, I have not tried .NET Remoting nor WCF. I have not any experience with it. I'll check it now, may be you aare true and it si ideal for me...

I tried to create a sample application in which the messages has to be sent to the server and it is working fine.
Then i tries to reply the messages from the client in the server, in that i faced a problem where can i write the code to SendMessage() and ReceiveMessage() funcitons, is it in Remote Object class or in the server.
In many application in the server there is no loop and whenever i am pressing enter it is coming out of the program.
Kindly give me an solution.

Yes, but this is a trial application in order to familiarize with remoting but actually i want to use this in order to make two service to communicate. And the server has to act as an interface between the two applciation

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no listview control for ASP.NET. Instead you have to use the GridView control or the DataList control. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi,
I am writing a database application that is using a dataset with hardcoded connection string (set upon project creation). Unfortunately, after quite a while of work I was told to store the conn string in a config file. I have no idea how to do it other way then by using an external text editor and modifying my *.xsd file manually (I am not even sure if this is the only place where this string is stored).
I am aware and pretty sure this is not a neat solution of my problem. But on the other hand, regenerating my entire dataset, dataTableAdapters and queries would be a couple-of-days-long work which I would prefer to avoid.
Can anyone help me, please.
Regards
Rob

Hi,
I'm writing an Windows Application in C# using VS.Net 2003. In that I have many datagrid operations. I'm stuck with some operations on datagrid and connecting to database. Can anybody provide any good site or article which explains datagrid operations in Windows Applications using C#, like we have one in
ASP.NET Datagrid girl[^].
Thanks in advance,

Christian meant Code Project. If you are on these forums, then you are already here. An article search for datagrids should return some good results

OK......
Seems to me like you want a stored proc that generates a report and takes the two dates as parameters ?

What report viewer are you talking about ? You would call the stored proc, then pass the resultant data set to the reporting control, I would have thought.

So after calling the stored proc, how to pass the result to the report control?
Let's clear us more...
