If it is a self-extracting exe, then just run it and it will extract embedded files automatically. Winrar can also do it.

I have to extract the files programatically...
I can have have WinRar and WinZip installed on the target machines... but what I wanted to do was using .NET features to accomplish this task..

Hi,
There is the requirement like this:,
One Login page is there for User Name, Password. Here the LAN user can only Login. How we will validate for a LAN user using C#.
Thanks in Advance.

If you've got a Windows only application, then don't use a login form. Set the authentication mode to Windows for your website and make sure that the application doesn't allow Anonymous Users.

Hello,
Would anybody by any chances could point me to the right direction on how to deploy a kiosk mode on Windows XP Pro SP2?
I need it for my final project but so far i haven't found out any info anywhere.
Thanks in advance,

Would it not be a case of making an alternative windows shell to use? Then, of course, limiting that user account so that can it do nothing on the machine.

Check this[^] out.

You need to run in full screen mode and use global keyboard hooks to keep the user from alt tabing, etc to get at the desktop.

Hello,
Would you mind how to teach me how to do Global Keyboards hooks?
This would be funny but i am working on the project while learning the language. I am reading the Book Visual C# 2005 but i haven't gotten to the delegates part yet.
Any help would be appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi,
I made a program that launched a outlook email window and puts a attached file in it:
<br />
private Outlook.Application oApp = new Outlook.Application();<br />
<br />
Outlook.MAPIFolder outBoxfolder = oApp.GetNamespace("MAPI").GetDefaultFolder(Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderOutbox);<br />
Outlook.MailItem mItem = (Outlook.MailItem)outBoxfolder.Items.Add(Outlook.OlItemType.olMailItem);<br />
<br />
mItem.Attachments.Add("D:\\test.jpg", Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);<br />
<br />
mItem.To = "";<br />
mItem.BCC = "";<br />
mItem.CC = "";<br />
mItem.Subject = "";<br />
mItem.BodyFormat = Outlook.OlBodyFormat.olFormatHTML;<br />
mItem.HTMLBody = "<img src='test.jpg'>";<br />
mItem.Display(new object());<br />
As you can see i want to display the attached file(image) in my mail, but, it doesn't work. The image is attached and you can see it in the attachments and dubbelclick it so it shows. But you cannot see it in de the body of the mail. The reason is because the imagelink "" in the HTMLBody isn't right, but what is right???
How do i make the link so it shows the image that is located in the attachment on my HTMLBody?
please help me???

Hi
I am developing 4 tier architecture in dotnet 2.0.
Presentation Layer is hosted on different machine. Business Layer is hosted on different machine and DAL is also hosted on different machine and database server is also different i.e. all applications parts are hosted on different machines. Now Presentation layer and Business layer communicate through Web Service. What is the suitable way of communication between DAL and BLL.
Business Layer and DAL machines have window XP Operation Systems.
1. Remoting
2. Web Service
3. Any other
Please suggests all the options.

In this case I suggest remoting. Because will be more faster and then you only will have a bottleneck(WS). If you use WS it will be slower.

I want to realize the following:
During one loop, a status form window is displayed, it is closed when the loop is done. but I want to stop the loop before the loop finishes. I have one button on the status form to be clicked to stop. Then I use Application.DoEvents() inside the loop to realize above funciton (according to Martin's suggestion). but I found I have to click the form window first, or else the button on this form does not response. I have tried Activate() and Focus(), neither does work.
Anyone can give me one hint for that?
thanks!

Application.DoEvents() sometimes is not suficient... Why don't you try to do the same(status form with cancel button) but put the loop inside a new thread, and if button is pressed break the loop (and then the new thread will finnish)?

Well you could slightly cheat. Simply move the 'hidden' file somewhere else.
Its not really good to control someones machine like your describing though, i mean, its my hard drive, my data, and if i want to copy it, i will.

Cheese is still good though.

I dont know what you want say me.
The file which i want to hide is on a Net Drive and not on local Machine.

Change the file permissions of that file so the user cannot open/change/copy it? If that will cause problems with your app then set your app to run part of itself as a different user.

Hi ,
You can embed it as a resource in your project exe file
|
|
|
|
|
Wait, you can change the security permissions of the file. I'm not sure how you can do that through c#, but maybe you could look into it.
