I will explain my application that I have started working on. I am trying to generate the barcodes,print it and scan it and integrate it with HIS or RIS application? and i did try to go through there product specification info. But dint find much on the API or the technical information of it?

Most barcode-scanners that I used came with drivers, and they spit out the barcode as if the numbers where typed by a keyboard.
Which barcode-scanner will you be using?

Probably TVSE BS-L 104 PLATINA scanner. I am still researching on the best USB scanner for my application.

Just looked at the specs, looks like it has a keyboard-interface. I'd mail the manufacturer, just to confirm that their product "also works as a keyboard".

From the specification it says, it works with both keyboard and USB HID too.

A HID is a "Human Interface Device".
I'd avoid the "keyboard wedge" types if I were you. It'll just cause you headache when you write your application.
If the manufacturer has a version of the scanner that exposes itself as a Serial (COM) port, that'll be much easier to handle. There's nothing special about a serial version and no special API as you're just getting text from a serial port.

Hi All,
Over the last few days I have asked questions relating to running an installer for a program and then checking a version of a driver if its not installed or to early installing a new version or leaving it be. I think now is a good time to find out what is the proper way of doing this (in C#). There must be an official way of doing this (I have my botched way if not) MSDN seem to point me toward a page that isn't really relevant (and a bit confusing!) there response seems to let Windows figure it out, my question is how?
Thanks
Glenn

Hello,
I'm new to this site and have found it very useful! Was wondering if anyone can help me pass PowerShell variables into C#. I have a PS script that creates multiple PS variables and would like to put each of those values in different label fields on an asp.net C# webpage.
Below is the code I'm currently using which only allows me to return the output of the PS script to a label.
var shell = PowerShell.Create();
string filePath = Server.MapPath("PowerShell/GetInfo.ps1");
StreamReader reader = File.OpenText(filePath);
string powerShellCode = reader.ReadToEnd();
reader.Close();
shell.Commands.AddScript(powerShellCode);
var results = shell.Invoke();
if (results.Count > 0)
{
var builder = new StringBuilder();
foreach (var psObject in results)
{
builder.Append(psObject.BaseObject.ToString() + "\r\n");
}
detailsLabel.Text = Server.HtmlEncode(builder.ToString());
powerShellCode = String.Empty;
}
|
|
|
|
|
Looks like you need to look at the PowerShell documentation to see what you can do with BaseObject other than ToString it.
|
|
|

|
Update - I was able to achieve this by removing the IF and using the following.
var myvar = shell.Runspace.SessionStateProxy.GetVariable("myvar");
myLabel.Text = Server.HtmlEncode(myvar.ToString());

How can we disable and enable the internet from inside of our program?

Fred 34 wrote: disable and enable the internet
It is highly unlikely that you are going to be writing a program that can disable or enable the internet so you must mean something else.
Why is common sense not common?

In fact I want to disable internet for awhile to prevent spyware to access that sensitive portion of program which contains some personal information which is not coded yet. for example account number which is coming from keyboard.

How is that going to help? My keylogger doesn't send data when it is entered, it sends it at midnight.
Think again.

An utter waste of time. It doesn't matter if the machine has internet access or not. Malware is still going to get this information and hang onto it until it CAN send it.

U are right, I did not think about it in this way.

Well there are 2 crude ways to do it: (if you haven't written drivers for your connectivity interfaces )
1. Enumerate all the network interfaces (non-virtual) and disable them
2. Configure a non-existent proxy server (like 0.0.0.0 port 80) for time being. After you are done with your execution reset this dummy proxy. Ensure you can backup any existent proxy settings if any.

#Define "The Internet".
You could disable every TCP/IP adapter on my machine, if you ran under an administrative account. Then again, maintenance and support might become angry if my internet doesn't work for no good reason.
Keep in mind that Windows Update and the virusscanner would be affected to.

Sorry, I'm not going to hand you that code; would some launch codes for a nuclear missile be sufficient?
For most CP members, life would be quite different without Google, MSDN, CodeProject, and many more.

I've got a few to share, too. I'm sure that they haven't changed them in the past 20 years. Why bother? They're secret...
