Problem
1. I have an image datatype column in the database. It contains only text.
2. I am using strongly typed dataset as datasource for the crystal report. I have set the the column in which the image data is loaded to base64binary.
3. Just dragging the image field displays a bunch of hex data.
How can I convert this bunch of hex data to normal string or is there a way to display this image in crystal reports?

VB.NET 2.0 has the 'my.settings', is there a way to accomplish the same in C#?
|
|
|
|
|
If you look in the Solution Explorer under you project, you should see Properties and under that, Settings.
In there you can customise your user and app settings.
Then in the code, just refer to it such as:
Properties.Settings......
If you open up Settings in Solution Explorer, there's a link in there also that gives you more information.
Hope this helps

Andy,
I got some settings defined in the Project-Properties-Setttings page. But the problem is to access them. All samples in the documentation (incluing the link on that page) only refer to VB.NET's My.Settings, not C#.
I tried entering Properties.Settings in the code editor, but then Intellisense doesn't pop-up anything... Could you elaborate, assuming I have defined a string-setting named 'username' in the settings-page?
Thanks,
Paul

Okay, okay, so I didn't look good enough
I found my setting under Properties.Setting.Default.xxxx
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!!!

hello everybody in this great forum.
Everyone of us knows hotmail messenger.
when someone of your friends' come in (logged in) , There is a form appear at the extreme corner of your screen notifying you with the who logged in and this form appear slowly step by step from the base till the top (complete size) whatever your screen resolution or how many inches your monitor is , it appears in the same place at the same corner level at your desktop and slowly.
my question is :
how can i implement that ?
note:
-----
i did that before but it differs from pc to another cause of the difference in resolution and width of the screen !!
i can implement that if i knew the location of the notifyicon of my program running on that user pc desktop ?
how can i get the location of the notifyicon associated with the program ?
Human knowledge belongs to the world.

Hi,
please at least try to find such stuff yourself first. Simply searching for notification[^] here on CodeProject would have given you at least one result which should match your needs.

Hello firends
If I want to learn database programming by C#.NET2005,I mean a database that works on a LAN network,or internet,

What database server are you planning on using? There are many of them (MySql, SqlServer, Oracle etc.).
If you are going to use SqlServer or Oracle, there are many articles on CP that can help.
If you are going to use MySql there is plenty of documentation on the MySql website that deals with .Net

Any of the major databases will suffice for the general query you posed. There is arguably more information on MS SQL Server than other DB. Just about every Database vendor now has a free version available for download and testing purposes.
I have currently queued up on my to read list “ADO.NET 2.0 Step by Step” by Rebecca M. Riordan, published by Microsoft Press. Glancing at it, it of coarse focuses on SQL Server but it does seem to talk about accessing and dealing with other db providers.
Hope that helps.

Hello
Is it necassary to know network programing?
GOOD LUCK

No, you just need to know ADO.Net. If you've ever connected to a Microsoft Access database it's pretty much the same thing. Try this article for some example code. It uses a MS SQL database and an Access database.

Hi,
I would like to create a small application to create/modify my app.config file, in which I store my database connection string.
1. I would like to know if it is possible to obtain a list of installed ODBC drivers on a PC.
2. Similarly, when I choose an ODBC driver, I would like to obtain a list of database appartaining to chosen ODBC driver.
Can anyone give me some clues/websites/articles, because all I found out is java and/or old C++.
Thanks + Regards:->

The app.config file is not supposed to be modified by your application for a reason. Why don't you take a look at the Enterprise Libraries Configuration Class instead?

I’m going to build an application that should be based on plugins that extend the core application with extra customer specific functions.
I like my plugins to have a common look, fell, and behaviour. I like tips on how to design my application to make it extendible. I like some tips on design patterns that could be useful.
I like to see my core-application as a framework for further development of plug-ins. I’ve read some articles on reflection and I get the point of it but I don’t really yet have the right thinking of how to apply common design patterns.
My other question is how I can get the look and fell of my plug-in dialogs like Visual Studios dockable windows. Is there any support for that in the .NET framework?
All tips on how I should start design my application and make it look good are welcomed!

Hi,
you could search for plugin[^] here on CodeProject to get a starting point.
There is no inbuilt support for dockings. Either have a look at this[^] or if you can afford to spend some money on it then here[^].
