well I don't know alot about those type of things but I can suggest you to read a little about serializing objects -> transfer objects to XML, and I can suggest you at tops to write the serialized object to a memory stream, and then crypt it, and then save it.

Hi guys,
I have two datagrids, one on top of the other, and I have removed the scrollbar from the bottom one.
Both datagrids are the same width (wider than the parent control) and I would like them to always line up so the question is..
How can I make the bottom datagrid always line up with the top datagrid when the top datagrid is moved by user editing or by scrollbar
Thanks in Advance

Anyone have any idea on how to do this?
Even if you have a method to do part of it.
ie. how to determine how far the "active" panel is scrolled over or... ?
Anyone?

hi,
I have a C#.NET(web) GridView template column set up this way:
As the ItemTemplate I have a label, lblSatus. As the EditItemTemplate I have
a DropDownList, ddlStatus. ddlStatus have a SQL database, as data
source, and is populated fine. I have set the AutoPostBack property of both
lblStatus and dllStatus to true.
What I need a solution for:
1) I want ddlStatus to have its SelectedValue property set to the value of
the Text property of lblStatus - when or before the user clicks the edit
button.
2) I want lblSatus to have its Text property set to the value of the
SelectedValue property of ddlStatus - when the user clicks the update button.
With or without using the SelectedIndexChanged event of ddlStatus, but I
suppose using this event is the way to go.
thank u for any help..

Head to the appropiate messageboard. You are looking ASP.NET, the C# message board is for everything else but ASP.NET.

Regardless of the language you are using, your question is still ASP.NET based, and hence you should ask the question there, see the post below why, clearly he is getting wrong answers...
|
|
|
|
|
SqlDataSource1.ConnectionString = "urconnectionstring";<br />
SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand = "select data from you table";<br />
ddlStatus.DataSourceID = "SqlDatasource1";<br />
ddlStatus.DataTextField = "Description";<br />
ddlStatus.DataValueField = "ID";
on ddlStatus SelectedIndexChange event
lblStatus.Text = ddlStatus.SelectedItem.Text.ToString();

thanks for sparing time to post a reply.
But when i tried using
1) lblStatus.Text = ddlStatus.SelectedItem.Text.ToString();
inside ddlStatus SelectedIndexChange event,its giving an error saying that ddlStatus&lblStatus doesn't exist in current context.
I have used drowndown as below :
asp:TemplateField
EditItemTemplate
asp:DropDownList ID="ddl" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource2" SelectedValue='<%# Eval("No_months") %>'
DataTextField="No_months" DataValueField="No_months" AutoPostBack="true" OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddl_SelectedIndexChanged" asp:DropDownList
EditItemTemplate
Used Label(below code)inside ItemTemplate tags.
asp:Label ID="lblStatus" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("No_months") % asp:TemplateField
2)Even the selcted value isn't updated as i click UPDATE,instaed the same old value is getting highlighted.

This ASP.NET? If so, head to the appropiate message board.

(1) Are you referring to WinForm or WebForm applications for item 1?
If you're using WinForms, then you should be able to do something like the following in the form's codebehind:
public AddTextBox(string id)<br />
{<br />
TextBox box = new TextBox();<br />
box.ID = id;<br />
box.Top = 150;<br />
box.Left = 20;<br />
this.Controls.Add(box);<br />
}
You can do something very similar to the above WinForm example with WebForms, but positioning will take slightly more attention, as will the timing of your control's addition to the form's control hierarchy.
(2) Are you referring to a DataTable? If so, then:
object value = dataTable.Rows[int rowIndex][string columnName]
from your example:
object value = dataTable.Rows[3][4];
...should do it. If you're talking about HTML tables, then it would depend on how the table was created. If you're doing it in code, then you should be able to walk the page's control hierarchy to get at it. If it's static HTML, javascript can do it, but it's kind of a long-winded answer unless you need it, and the question belongs in a different forum.
Good luck.

box.Top = 150;
box.Left = 20;
it dosen't work - 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox' does not contain a definition for 'Top'
i'm using vs.2005 do i need to add something else?

You should be asking this question in the ASP.NET forum, thats why you are getting wrong answers.

How can I jump link to a label which is dynamically created upon when it is clicked?
e.g. I have a long article on a tabpage but it is only displayed one page at a time. Say for example, I want to have another tabpage which can be linked to a specific page of the article. How do I do this? Can I create jump destination for a label?

You can use other methods to convert the number to a string, or make your own method, but other than that, no.

String.Format, Int32.ToType, Int32Converter.ConvertTo, Convert.ChangeType, StringBuilder.Append, TextWriter.Write... you name it...

HI ! my name ppvinh i come from vietNam
i have a question
I have been trying to use the System.Diagnostics.Process.Start command from an ASP.NET web page to start another process on my PC, i.e. Notepad. Although this method works when I try it from a Windows based application, it does not start the new process when I code it on an ASPX page. No errors have been raised when I put this statement in a try/catch block, but nothing happens (the program does not start). Can you tell me why?
