Hi,

I'm looking for some tutorial how to handle COM objects in C#. I've found good articles about how to create COM objects in C#, but couldn't find any about using those objects (whether created in C# or C++ , doesn't matter). Thanx (for link Smile | :)

)

PS: I know that there is COM forum, but I didn't get any answer for 5 days there.

It's quite simple. Assuming that you are using Visual Studio:
- select your project in the Solution Explorer
- choose Add Reference
- in the dialog that open select the COM tab
- choose your COM object and click OK

VS automatically creates a .NET wrapper for the COM object that you can use from your code. One drawback of this method is, that this wrapper has no signature.
If you need a strong named wrapper, you can use the tool TlbImp.exe. Its use is well documented in the MSDN.

Hi,

Yes I'm using VS 2005 Express...

The COM-object I created is not among all COM's in COM Tab (in diffrent project). Do you have any idea why? (When building that object I checked Register for COM interop in Properties->Build and I also created strong name object using sn.exe utility... )

Sorry, I've never written a COM server in C#. All my COM objects are 'older' unmanaged code that is used from within C# projects.
Generally all COM objects must be registered on the PC before they can be used. And all registered COM objects should be listed on the COM tab. Therefore I guess, that your COM server is not registered properly yet. But this is just a guess.

Have you already tried to use your COM object from some other (unmanaged) code?

No haven't but I'm planing on that. First I wanted to try this all under C# and VS2005, thought that it would be easy, than go to C++ , create COM and use it in C# same way as COM created in C#...

I've tried TlbExp.exe and opening COM object with browse button or registring that COM dll using Regasm.exe and still no luck...

what is the good approch for Logout ??

Hi All !!!

can somebody let me know what is the good approch for logout in asp.net application; such as (when we logout the www.mail.yahoo.com, we can not be go back [using IE Back Button] to that perticuler section)

i am using this kind of thing. when i am click on the logout button.

this Code Execute
Session["userId"] = null;

But it does not work properly.

but i want to make it such as yahoo's logout systme. please help me how to do this kind.

After logout my User should not be go beck to the his section. using IE back button Click event. it should be login again.

If you are checking Session["userId"] on every page to be valid, then the user may not be able to go back and use the pages by clicking on IE Back button

10.567.7889.7. // is incorrect

how to identify the incorrect one.

Hello,

A quick validation would be to split the string (string.Split('.')) and chek if the elements of the array (return value of Split method is string[]) are not longer than 3 characters.
Additionaly you could also check the Length of the string[].

I don;t know the exact answer but this might help you ...

Create MS Word object
use the save as method of MS Word object, pass html as parameter

Hopefully this should be the approach

This is probably the only way, however I believe it is really a bad practice!
It relies that a correct version of MS Office with MS Word is installed by user, and depends on the interface provided by that specific version. I don't think there is another way however, since DOC format is proprietary, and theoretically only Word engine should know how to parse it.

I agree but thats the way you will have to tackle this problem else u might have to write some by yourself to parse a doc.

Does open office provide automation? I'm not sure what the OO licence says about bundling with non OSS apps though so this might not be an option.

Hi All

I am Anil working on C# Asp.net , I need to genarete Dropdownlistbox dynamically and also fill it dynamically ,and i need to accept selected value in all dropdownlistbox to server side code

I wanna to do my application to be automatically update.I am using below given criteria ,but i am getting DataConnection error ,but if i am executing
my project normally this is not giving any connection error..

1) Build the project
2) Right click on Solution Explorer and do to propetties.
3) Go to the Publish and then Prerequisties and choose the Prerequisties to
install
4) Click Publish Now
5) Now Brower is opened and i click on intall Button---The Error is coming--
ERROR OCCURED WHILE CONNECTING TO DATABASEAPPLICATION NOW EXIT.

Please Suggest...

I don't understand the complete question, but does the "PerfomClick" method, of the System.Windows.Forms.Button class help you?

What do you mean "in browsers"?

I can tell you how to do that from a windows form application which has a WebBrowser control on it. That has most of the functionality of IE. Isn't this what you want?

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
