PopupMenu -> upgrading issue VB6 to VB.Net

in my VB6 code the code line is like this
PopupMenu mnuAddDeleteItems

upgrade vizard change it to

PopupMenu(mnuAddDeleteItems)

but

i am getting the error

<br />
Error	125	Name 'PopupMenu' is not declared.

PopupMenu is custom function?
how can i resolve the issue

You might have to rewrite the code using the ContextMenu class.

there is no implimentaion for popupmenu in VB6
just its using the method

can u please giveme some pointers how to
replave that with contextmenu?

You will have to add a ContextMenuStrip to the form from the toolbox (in the formular designer).
Then you can use the .Show method of this object to show the context menu.
But you will have to map the Click-events yourself and will have to add the menu-items to the ContextMenuStrip first - but this is more or less the same that it used to be in VB6-days (well the menu-editor is gone but you can use some simple WYSIWYG editor directly in the form-designer)

Hi
I know its a FAQ but i have searched google but nothing seems to be helpful for me.

In my application there is two part one is sending mail which i have done successfully n sencond is retriving mail.

I wanna know the best way to do it?

The answer is DON'T.

You are sending via SMTP right? This is no problem because ever mailserver in you buisness will have a virtual SMTP port or something similar - but normaly it won't have POP3 caps.
And writing your own POP3 server .... you won't like this.
So if you really want to receive eMail with your own code you might want to use the exchange-SDK or something similar to directly access the users-mail account - or (and this is much simpler) rewrite your software as an office-plugin.

In that line of code
it complains
Name 'App' is not declared

how can i resolve the issue

It got resolved with the link u have given

replaced with

UBound(Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName(
Diagnostics.Process.GetCurrentProcess.ProcessName)) > 0

What do you mean by 'Vista like'. Do you mean when on vista, or even on XP ? If the latter, if you want it to look like Vista on XP, then you need to create custom controls to get that look.

A timer is not a control. You need to rewrite your code.

The code that uses a timer will need to be completely rewritten to use a .NET timer class. There's no simple way that I can see, a timer and a toolstripitem simply do not have a common base class in .NET.

the declaration is like

Dim objDecrpt As New Encoder.cEncoder
when i upgrade it to VB.net

the
Dim objDecrpt As New Encoder.cEncoder
in VB.Net declaration says

" Type 'Encoder.cEncoder' is not defined" is not defined

how to resolve the problem please help me

Do you have any idea what you're doing ? Seriously, it seems like you're posting a question for every error you see, without trying anything to resolve them.

VB6 and VB.NET don't have much in common, no conversion is going to work 100%. You need to rewrite a lot of code.

The only hit I see on google is where you asked the same question on code guru. I'd suggest this means that the class is a custom class that has not been moved over to VB.NET.

actually I dont have any Idea what am i doing

I am VC++ programr but not VB this is first time am looking VB code
the thing is in our product i am changing the UI look and feel for Vista effect
my total product is in MFC, VC++ that i completed working now one small module ( its called import Utility)is developed in VB so to change the UI of that first i need to upgrade it ti VB.net and changing the UI
for that reason what ever i see as error i am posting in both placess in code guru and code project

since we dont have much time to finish, my first target is forums
sorry if i am behaving like a mad guy but i have to do

According to google, it's not a built in class, so I assume it's a library your project uses. VB6 and VB.NET are totally different, there's going to be a lot of rewrite, if it's a small project, I'd be inclined to start from scratch

A 2D array is really an array of arrays, so myObject(0).GetUpperBound, or whatever, will get you the size of the second dimension.

No, you need a hash table for that sort of lookup.

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
