Hello all,
I have a picture which I can drag other pictures over. After I release the picture being dragged, or even while it's moving, I want to check if the (x,y) position of that picture is within a certain region.
Example:
Let's say I have a rectangle width (50) height (30). I cut that rectangle diagonally from bottom left to top right. I want to find if the dragged picture is in the section that has a right angle in the upper left corner or the lower right corner.
That's a very, very simple example of what I'm trying to do. My shapes have 800 - 10,000 point outlines that I convert to a region path and draw. I have all the points stored in arrays, but the array only contains the outline, so I don't know how to find if it's WITHIN the outline. Thank you sooo much for any help!!!

hi there,
I would to execute some code present in my dll when I register it using regsvr32.
how to do that ? It seems there is something to use like dllinstall or DllRegisterServer .
I have also seen something like:
regsvr32 /i:"some_text" mydll.dll
that would invoque the dllinstall function and pass the string some_text to the dll. But didn't find any piece of code on that.
Thanx in advance.

The maximum number of characters DISPLAYED in a text box is 4000, even though the maxlength is set to 2147483647. The 4001+ characters are not visible, unless highlighted.
When the value of the textbox is passed to another form and there are more than 4000 characters, an error occurs:
error msg: "Invalid pointer"
code:
qryStr = "?FormNameIn=CriteriaPIDRevenue"
qryStr = qryStr & "&PIDCodeIn=" & window.PIDForm.txtPIDCode.value
window.open "DetailsMain.aspx" & qryStr, "frmDetails"
If there are LT 4001 characters, NO ERROR!
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
Marc

i am working on a project for a class, not too much of a big one,but its due anytime soon, and yet still i haven't finish. I am trying to scramble some words at random,, meaning each time the program takes a word from the database it would scramble it at random.. example. the first time it might get this word,,say "sheets" it should be able to scramble it like say "etsesh" and a next time it might pull the same word from the database and scramble it like "shtees".. and so on..
the problem is that how do i get it to do so. i tried an approach that takes the word, use the mid function to fill and array of the size of the word,,which works just find..the problems came about when i am trying to display the letters scrambled at random.. because the same number may randomly come at anytime.. i need help to scramble the words randomly..please help..anyone

Just scramble the position of each letter. For example the word "sheets" has 6 letters meaning each letter can be in any position 0 to 5.
Here is a pseudo-code example:
Create array with 5 empty spaces (call it scrambledWord)
Generate random from 0 to 5
Place first letter at position generated
Generate random from 0 to 5
if scrambledWord has a space then place second word
else generate random again
repeat for all letters minus last one.

i have tried the method u mention but the problem is that the random number might repeat itself, and when it does, it displays the same letter which is not good..would u like to type the vb code so i could see if i really understand what is it that you are say and if that was the exact method i used? thanks for helping..

'fill array with some values
For j = LBound(word_array) To UBound(word_array)
word_array(j) = "*"
Next j
Randomize
'fills the array with letters from the word in random space provided.
For i = LBound(word_array) To UBound(word_array)
b = 1 + (Rnd * (word_size - 1))
'this section checks to see if the random is already been used..
'if not place a letter into its space..
'if it has been used, it uses a loop to regenerate a new random number and do a second check
If word_array(b) = "*" Then
word_array(b) = Mid(word, i, 1)
Else
Do While word_array(b) <> "*"
b = 1 + (Rnd * (word_size - 1))
If word_array(b) = "*" Then
word_array(b) = Mid(word, i, 1)
Exit Do
End If
Loop
End If
Next i

I am creating a wizard that contains next and back buttons. When the user selects next, then a certain form is loaded and the name of the form is placed in an array. Then when the user selects the back button the previous entry in the array contains the name of the previous form. Ideally the previous form should then be brought. The code I'm thinking about is similar to the following:
sub btnBack_click(...) Handles ...
Dim prevFormName As String
Dim prevForm
formArrayList.removeAt(formArrayList.count-1)
prevFormName = formArrayList(count-1)
prevForm = New CType(prevFormName, form)
prevForm.showDialog()
Me.close
end sub
Thanx -
Frank

I would suggest a somewhat different approach. Typically when you create a Wizard style dialog form you use a single base dialog form, and place all the controls for each step on a separate panel. Then you set the previous panel Visible property to False and set the next step Panel visible to True.
This gives you a cleaner appearance because there is no flicker between steps as the user navigates the wizard because you do not ever hide/show a form. It also usually makes your navigation logic simpler - typically you do not perform any actions or field validation when stepping back, only when stepping forward.
Of course you end up with a lot more code in a single form, but the VS.IDE supports organizing step code in Regions which makes things more manageable.
If you want to use separate forms, probably the simplest thing to do is to load them all into a global collection when the wizard starts, and then access them from the gloabl collection by a key value.

Good idea
I thought about doing that...once you set up all the panels, then you would want them to be in different locations when you are designing them. However, when the program is running you would then position each one correctly. Is this correct?
Also you would need to keep a Global panelArrayList that acts as a stack. The Next button would push each new panel
in the arrayList while clicking on the Next button would pop the current one off.
(Depending on the user's choices, a different panel would appear and thus going backward requires an array to know what panel the last one was)
|
|
|
|
|
Yes. What I do is design a panel and then set the left coordinate to a large enough negative number to move it off the form area in design view. Then I move them all onto the form in the Load procedure, and simply toggle the first panel Visible property to True at run time.
As far as navigation code goes the approach really depends on the specifics of the wizard. A simple forward/backward single path wizard you can just use a Select Case that evaluates the step number and direction.
If you have conditional navigation or if you are writing a generic Wizard template then you would probably use some kind of stack.

I have a dropdownlist in my form called Status which displays a list of all the status that the form can be at.
The different status are: NEW
Used
Complete
What I want is that when I have a record that is status used then when I open the form to display this record
it will display the dropdownlist with Used as the selected Status and New will no longer be a member of the
status dropdownlist.
The dropdownlist is being populated by a select statement on the Status table in the database. Select * from Status.
Anyone know how to do this?

Dear Friend,
I have a question like ,
I need to transfer the thumbnails to Microsoft Word Document (Which is existing) & in a Variable folder.
like there maybe several folders with some .Doc files in it ,it will ask for which folder & file to open ? I will not type the name,I will just select the file once(Document) where i may be inserting some pictures all in same size.
then if I click (Just double click it must be transferred automatically).
exit .it will save the opened Word file with the pictures i inserted.

Hello,
I got a problem handling images. After I did everything I wanted with the image, I want to write it into a file using image.Save. At the PC at the office this works fine. But when I tried this at home, I always got the "General failure in component GDI+"-error. I don't know how to solve this. I still tried to write the image into a FileStream but I got the same error. Do you have an idea how to solve this or get a workaround?

I'm writing an independent help system with WhatsThisHelp support. I know WinHelp supports all this, but I need a single executable that has no other dependencies than the standard VB runtime files. It's nearly finished, but there's one thing I can't figure out. How do I intercept and respond to a WhatsThisHelp Click Event?
As soon as you activate WhatsThisHelp, VB6 doesn't receive the click event. It isn't even aware the cursor changed to arrow-questionmark.
Anybody got an idea how to do this?
