Hi all,
I am trying to embed/display a Word and Excel document in a VB.NET application. I have searched long and hard online with no success in finding a solution.
I found a potential solution which suggested using the Web Browser object (AxWebBrowser) to open and display office files, however, any attempt to open/navigate to a file results in a pop-up asking to open or save the file, before actually loading MS Word and displaying the document in that.
The point of this exercise is to create a viewer application, that does NOT need to open any external applications to display it's content.
...If anyone has any idea's or suggestions; would be great!!
Thanks

Try using this code maybe it will help you:
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop
Dim appWord As New Word.Application
Dim docWord As New Word.Document
docWord=appWord.Document.Open("C:\mydocument.doc")
And if you simply want to print it try this code:
Dim myProcess As New System.Diagnostics.Process()
With myProcess
.StartInfo.Filename="d:\path\filename.doc"
.StartInfo.Verb="Print"
.Start()
End With

Not sure about having it embedded in your app, but Interop is the way to go when working with VB and Office...

Please, when you have a question, choose one forum to ask it in, instead of spamming the site. Are you using C#, or VB ?

What language are you using? C# or VB, and stick to the forum that corresponds to the language you are using. Like Christian said about spamming the forums, it is rude to place the same question in three different forums. It's not going to get you an answer any faster.

3 years with an account at CodeProject and you STILL haven't gotten the idea that we hate when people cross post the same question on multiple forums...

I suspect the problem is that people say 'don't cross post', and then answer it anyway. So, he doesn't care about the admonition, he still gets a result. Which is why I did not answer him, this time.

That is very possible. Let leckey dole out the punishment with a good smack using a rolled up Wired magazine

You have been cross posting for some time now and it doesn't look like anyone scolded you before, but you know better. Go sit in the corner until the programming world believes VB is better than C.

That is going to be a very long time.

Hi everyone ;
i want to add a winsock in my project , but I don't know how to do that
can some one help me to do that
thank you

You don't "add a winsock" to your project. ...Wait... Which version of VB are you using?? VB6? VB.NET 2002, 2003, 2005??

I was wondering that when I was tinkering with a Frankenstein VB app (it has 4 or 5 forms, pulls data from a buttload of different databases/queries/tables, and doesn't do anything really exciting) I have from answering some of these questions...
I was thinking of System.Net.Sockets...

I HAVE visual studio 2005 , i'm looking for the component winsock

Winsock component isn't there in VS2005. You could work with System.Net.Sockets...

You don't add the "winsock component". You use the classes in the System.Net.Sockets[^] namespace.

Is there a certain library I need to have referenced to my project in order to use I/O? Just wondering. Also, is there a way I can open a jpg with a FileStream object?

these are elementary questions a simple MSDN lookup could have answered:
FileStream Class
Namespace: System.IO
Image.FromStream()

hi
first i need an algorithm for make thin a shape that previously detec it's edges in my app. my app works with monochorom pics with White back color and Black fore color. i can detect the edges but i need to reduce the width of shape to one pixel .(see image : http://i14.tinypic.com/52yikch.jpg )
second i want to read every user input character vector from a ttf font file.
ttf created vector base and every character has some vertex point with (x,y) position. i need these vertexes x and y .
thx

on the second question: I dont expect extracting such data from a TTF file would be easy.
You can always select a font, then draw a huge single character onto a Panel,
create a bitmap from there, then do your image processing magic on that.
(it would require a Control.DrawToBitmap)

for the first i find the words : Centerline trace
corel 12 or earlier support it...
anybody can help know ?

A solution to something like this would involve several bookloads of information and is out of the scope of a posted message. Google around
