If I understand your problem correctly, you don't need AJAX to do this, just some tricky JavaScript. Let's say you have a page, Page1.aspx, that takes much time to load (for example because of it's size). The trick is to create another page which then "calls" the desired page. So the crucial part of 'Loader.aspx':
<body>
<img src="someanimation.gif" alt="" />
<script type="text/javascript">
window.location.href = 'http://www.yoursite.com/Page1.aspx'; //should obviously be generated dynamically
</script>
</body>

Hi shakeela,
If you have the ID of the text box then try the following code
To validate empty textbox
If (document.GetElementById("ID Of TEXTBOX").value=="")
{
alert("Please Fill textbox");
document.GetElementById("ID Of TEXTBOX").focus();
return false;
}
Hope it will help........Bye

Hello and welcome.
I fear that you will not get much useful replies to your question. Some tips:
:: Try to write a useful subject. Almost every thread is about someone wanting help, so that information does nothing to distinguish it from other threads. The urgency of the matter is hardly information that is useful in the subject.
:: Asking for replies to email instead of in the forum is generally considered a bit rude. If you are too lazy to go to the forum to look for replies, do you expect anyone to go through the trouble to write you a reply?
Also, your question is too vague for anyone to give you a definitive answer, much less any code. How you rank the search results based on user interrests depends on how you store the information about the user interrests. Do you have a database for this?

You would have to write an activeX dll to do this sort of thing and the client would have to download it and trust your ActiveX.

A scheduled task? (hmm, thats twice I've written that in 10 mins, was the other one you as well?) Create your program as a comand line or windows app that automatically shuts itself down and add a scheduled task to run it when you want (might need a batch file for that, not sure)

You can read your file bytes from the database and then stuff those bytes into a response which has been given the appropriate header. I assume the bytes are coming from the DB, for you to not want the local file ?

Hello,
Does anyone know how to call a javascript function when an embedded ActiveX object is installed? I have a javascript function that requires that the embedded object is installed. As soon as the object is installed, I want to run the script. Any ideas?
Thanks!

OK, I have a solution. I'm using intervals to continually call the javascript function. In the function, I check to see whether or not the object is loaded. If it is, I execute the rest of the function and clear the interval.
If there is a better solution or this isn't a best practice, let me know!
Thanks!
Ian

I would like for some files to remained cached for a long time to avoid reloading them on page transitions (css, javascripts, logo image, etc.) but have other files expire and force them to be reloaded with each transition (context sensitive data).
Is there a way of setting different cache expiration times for individual files on the same page?

Thanks for the link. It looks like a really good resource.
I took a quick glance at it and it looks like I may be able to set up an .htaccess file that will accomplish what I need.
Now I need to set aside some serious reading time to go through the entire resource and see how much I thought I knew but really didn't.

Hello,
I have a website that I want to view with the PocketPC 2003 emulator. This website has an embedded ActiveX object. When I browse to this site with IE on my desktop, I get the option of installing the ActiveX control. However, when I browse to this site with the PocketPC emulator, I don't get an option to download it and the site does not work properly.
Can anyone tell me how to setup the PocketPC emulator to allow installation of embedded objects? Or if not, why?
Thanks a bunch!
Ian

Hello,
This is my first time to work on web development so I don't know from where to start.
All I know is that I have a web site already designed by Java Script and I need to modify it and add to it login forms, accessing DataBase, retrieveing information , sending emails programmatically...
So, first thing that come to my mind is to work with ASP.NET ( correct me if u have a better option please), if so I would like to know how to add the ASP forms to the Javascript.
Thanks,

I think you're a little confused. It sounds like you're being asked to modify a site that is going to be used, perhaps in a paid position. You need to buy a book and work through it if you want any chance of being able to do this.
An overview:
No website is 100% javascript. A web browser knows how to do three things:
1 - display HTML
2 - run javascript, which can modify HTML
3 - style HTML using CSS
It's possible you're looking at VB script code, in which case, your site is written in asp. ASP.NET is the best system I know of for writing web pages, but the real question is, what is the existing site written in, and how much work would it be to integrate those pages with ASP.NET, if that's what you intend to do ?
Every system, ASP.NET, J2EE, asp, PHP, all exist to take program code and use it to generate HTML. HTML is the only language that can cause a web page to display anything more than plain text.

Is it possible to detect the IP address & ban visitors from particular IP addrress from visiting the website or a page , like is it possible to detect the IP address using javascript or some other mean & match & block the visitors from the certain area.
