I like the article submission system on CodeProject, and I think it would be great for me to develop a similar system for a different purpose.
Being the lazy developer that I am, I was wondering if there's already some "article submission ASP.NET project" templates out there with 90% of the functionality there, allowing me to tweak it rather than build it from scratch. I didn't find any with my searches of open source projects, but if anyone here knows of such a template, I would greatly appreciate it.

what do you mean by running too fast? I have seen browser informational dialog that displays notifying the user script is running slow, but not too fast. Running too fast would be very good.

Hello everyone,
My question has to do with CSS.
I have this very simplistic website www.iofreaks.com , and I am trying to apply CSS’s to it. So that way further down the road it will be easier to manage.
Now my first question is this:
Q.) When using CSS’s, do you create more than one CSS for the <head> ,<body> and <table>’s?
The reason I ask this, is because I thought that using CSS’s intention is to enable to you alter large amounts of information from “ONE” or very few documents?
My next question is this:
Q.) When specifying the following:
table.one {table-layout:fixed}
How do you relate to “ table.one ” in your index.html? I know there has to be a way to link them together to apply what you have in the CSS document, but how do you do this? Do you use in index.html to relate to the CSS document? I am very confused on this.
I would appreciate any help. I will also include what I have in my css1.css file at the bottom of this page.
V/R
Rob
@charset "utf-8";
/* CSS Document */
body {background-color:#D5D5D5}
table.one {table-layout:fixed}
<table class="one" width="510" height="166" border="1" align="center" cellpadding="0"> </table></table></table></body></head>

I have an external style sheet I am using in an html page. I'm using vs2008 to do some development in. I have created a body element in my css page. The link for the style sheet is in the header of the html page like it should be but I am not seeing the css effects appearing for my body or p tags, what am I doing wrong?
I noticed that if I define the following in my css page they are not applied to my html page.
<title>
css file:
body
{
font-size: 10px;
color: #222222;
line-height: 1;
}
p
{
line-height:1.2em;
margin ;
}
div.wrap
{
background-color:#FFFFFF;
}
The div.wrap gets executed but the body and p elements will not show properly. What am I missing here?
Thanks,
DNM

I believe your problem is because you are not refering to your css file. You are linking to it yes, but you are not giving it anything to format.
CSS Works like this I believe, and please correct me if I am wrong. Your CSS file is read in the Head as to be at the begening of the translation process. Once this begins it see's the .css file and looks to it for formating procedures. It is doing just that, yet there is no Content for it to be applied to.
I hope this helps, and of course I may be wrong as I am new to this as well.

hello everyone,
I hv developed ClickOnce application MYLauncher, and while publishing I'hv selected the option "Create setup to install Prerequisits Components" , to install .NET Framework 2.0 on client machine if required.
I am launching MYLauncher through web page of my web application.
Response.Redirect("http://myServer//myWeb//MYLauncher.application?param1=100");
MYLauncher.application gets installed properly on client machine if .NET Framework is already present on client machine.
But if framework is not present on client machine ClickOnce application not getting installed.
Pl. help me out.
Thanks

Hello everyone,
I want everyone to take a look at this website.
http://www.xxodd.nl/index.php
I have a bunch of questions. I want to know how they made that navigation pane at the top. How was it constructed?
Let me list out my questions to clarify things:
1.) How was the navigation pane constructed
2.) How does the navigation pane stay translucent?
3.) How do they make the center “body table” translucent?
4.) When you click on a product, and go to the gallery on the product, notice that the images are dimmed. When you put your curser over the image it brightens up, how is this achieved?
5.) When you click on an image, it opens up in I believe “Java”. The image opens up into a specified size, looks like the size of the image. And the image opens up into a “Sub menu” on the page, dimming everything in the background. How is this done?
6.) The image on the background, it looks 3D. How is the glass effect and mirror effect applied to this image?
I am extremely new to web development. I dabble in C++. Can some1 please explain my questions to me? Thank you in advance!

1)using css and javascript - you can see this by doing a "view -> page source" in your browser.
2)I imagine it uses a semi transparent gif or png image as a background / See here
3)PNGs and gifs with transparency
4)I can't see this but you can do rollover images with css or javascript
5)That is javascript and css - try looking up "jquery"
6)Either use a mirror filter in a graphics program or duplicate the image, flip it, and fade it, and blur it.
I suggest you look up html, css, javascript and jquery.

I would think it's do-able but I'm not sure where to begin or what to even search for. I have been asked to give a bid for a large project that would, among other things, involve synching data from a web-based program using SQL Server on the backend with a program that is self contained on a flash drive (thumb drive, memory key... what's the proper terminology these days). First question is, is this do-able? I would imagine that it should be. But then very next breath brings the question ... how?
Thanks in advance for whatever direction you can give me.

First things that spring to mind are java, sockets and (Programmed) ftp.

|
|
|

Okay, so it sounds like it's definitely do-able if all that springs to mind right away. But all of that would be new to me. Got any suggestions on where to start searching for an answer? Maybe I should just google up something like "java sync" (without the quotes, of course)?

Yeah download eclipse (java version). Install it. Run.
Go help -> software updates and add the following site:
http://visualswing4eclipse.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/org.dyno.visual.swing.site/
Download the software from that site, using the software updates form, called visual editor.
This will let you design the forms using a wysiwyg interface.
Then look up "java Ftp" and "programming sockets in java".
You may also need to code a page on your website to serve you the data you want (especially if its in a DB).

Pure HTML and Javascript cannot break out of the Browser Sandbox[^].
That said most browsers provide a component mechanism that provides hosting for native code to run in that is outside the sandbox. AFAIK, they all require the user to verify that they want this unsafe action to execute. This is what you need to access drives/USB on the local machine. Then of course you have to deal with communicating between your component and your server which is a completely different subject.

Well, that definitely gives me some direction. Now I just need to get out there and do some digging. But what you've given me is enough to ballpark a quote. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are using an applet (Java) that is signed by a trusted party, than the user will not be asked if he wants to execute it...
