I'm using the 3.5 version of ajax. I have a panel set tp be a modal popup, and inside I have a few radio buttons, a text box for a comment, and a button. The button submits fine, but the radio buttons are not retaining their checked value. I can set the selected value and it shows it as selected when the popup appears, but if I click any of the radiobuttons, none of them show as selected. If I click the botton, the checked property is false for all of them.
<asp:Panel ID="panelOutcomePopup" CssClass="OutcomePopup" runat="server" style="display:none;">
<div class="PopupHeader">
<table width="100%" cellspacing="2px" cellpadding="2px">
<tr>
<td>
Record Outcome
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
<div class="PopupContent">
<div>Select the outcome below and enter a comment </div>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="updatePanelErrors" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<div><asp:ValidationSummary ID="validationSummary" runat="server" HeaderText="The following error(s) occurred:"
DisplayMode="BulletList" CssClass="ErrorBox"></asp:ValidationSummary></div><br />
<olympus:MultiValidator ID="multivalidator" runat="server" />
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="updatePanelOutcomes" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<div><asp:RadioButtonList ID="radioButtonListOutComes" runat="server" /></div>
<div><asp:RadioButton ID="radioButtonAdministered" Checked="true" runat="server"
GroupName="OutcomeGroup" Text="Administered Successfully" /></div><br />
<div><asp:RadioButton ID="radioButtonRefused" runat="server" GroupName="OutcomeGroup"
Text="Patient Refused" /></div><br />
<div><asp:RadioButton ID="radioButtonDropped" runat="server" GroupName="OutcomeGroup"
Text="Dropped" /></div><br />
<div><asp:RadioButton ID="radioButtonOther" runat="server" GroupName="OutcomeGroup"
Text="Other" /></div><br />
<div>Comment</div>
<div><asp:TextBox ID="textBoxComment" runat="server" TextMode="MultiLine"></asp:TextBox></div><br />
<div><asp:Button ID="buttonRecord" runat="server" Text="Record Outcome"
onClick="buttonRecord_Click" /></div>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
</div>
</asp:Panel>
<ajaxToolkit:ModalPopupExtender ID="modalPopupOutcome" runat="server" BehaviorID="modalPopupOutcome" BackgroundCssClass="modalBackground"
TargetControlID="panelOutcomePopup" PopupControlID="panelOutcomePopup" />
I do not want the radio buttons to perform postback because it causes the modal popup to hide.
Any ideas?

Are you sure you're not rebinding the radio buttons prior to checking to see if they are selected?

Thanks for your response.
No, I'm not binding the radio buttons at all. If I put text in the text box and click any of the buttons, the text is not cleared.
The behavior is mostly on the client side as far as them not showing selected. The button highlights and reacts to the click, but does not actually have the little blue circle in it, and does not show selected in tha backend.

I've been digging around and it appears to be the way I am showing the modal. Using a link button, it works fine. But I can't do that. I'm trigging a text changed event when the user clicks enter in a text box, I then validate the data entered, and then show the modal. modalPopupOutcome.Show() does not work.
Any ideas?

One weighs more than the other, you the heavyweight ones t stop bif things moving, use lightweight ones for smaller objects.

Hi. I'm creating a web site that requiring the user to enter some information and I want to put a ErrorProvider like guide in the text box of my website so that I wont get null input into my database.
Usually, I can do this in the Window form by just using the validation in the text box, but it when I tried it into the web form the code won't work. Can you give some alternative code in the web form?
by the way, I'm using a the VS 2008 web development.
Thanks in advance.

I suggest you to use JavaScript AJAX.
Fire a JavaScript function on mouse over. Make a server call using Get/Post method and fetch response from Server.
Display the Details in Div tag. You need not to use any control for implementation.
function ajax_CreateXMLHttpRequest()
{
var xmlHttpRequest = null;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{
xmlHttpRequest = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
else if (typeof ActiveXObject != "undefined")
{
xmlHttpRequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
return xmlHttpRequest;
}
function ajax_MakeAnAJAXGetCall()
{
var dtDate = new Date();
var tURL= "";
tURL = "functions_AJAX.aspx?<argumentlist>"
ajaxObj = ajax_CreateXMLHttpRequest();
if (ajaxObj != null)
{
var URL = tURL;
ajaxObj.open("GET", URL, true);
ajaxObj.onreadystatechange = ajax_CallBack;
ajaxObj.send(null);
}
return false;
}
function ajax_CallBack()
{
if (ajaxObj.readyState == 4)
{
if (ajaxObj.status == 200)
{
var ajaxResponse = ajaxObj.responseText;
}
}
}
</argumentlist>
Make a call to function ajax_MakeAnAJAXGetCall on mouse over event.

I have a page that processes xml files. After processing, it then should move the files to a different location - thats not working now.
It uploads the files fine, processes them - but doesn't move. The message says: "Unable to find the specified file".
The code I am using is:
file.MoveTo(@"D:\MyArchive\badfiles\" + file.Name);
Here file is FileInfo object. The directory where I am trying to move it is a shared location, and the user have write permission.
Any idea why its failing?
Thanks.

No. You hold all the cards in this game. You have access to the machine - verify that the destination path is valid, that the source file hasn't been processed and moved by a different thread, and that you aren't holding on to handles to the file from previous operations.
Then write a tiny program that does only what is necessary to reproduce the problem. Chances are, it'll work, and you can expand it to the point where it does all you need (or it breaks, thereby making it obvious to you where the problem lies...); if not, post the code and someone here may be able to help you.
Oh, and when you do, ask in the C# or .NET forum. This one is for web dev questions.
---- You're right.
These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets .

Hello Shog,
Thanks for your response. It is in fact a web application and the file needs to be processed then moved from the user input from the web. So I posted it here.
The paths are valid, definitely - otherwise I wouldn't ask for help.
Now - the prcessing and moving by a different thread? Not sure about that. I am using an XmlReader and after first round of reading - closing the reader. So when I read it next time, that works fine - but only doesn't move. I used same type of code from a Windows app, and moved the files fine.
Anyway, let me know if you can think of any other issue.
Thanks again.
