<div id="myDiv" name="myDiv">[content]</div>
var theObj = document.getElementById("myDiv");
theObj.style.[color/backgroundColor/etc] = "whatever value you want to assign";

Hello, I'm having some trouble getting the body of my index page to align correctly with my top_inc.php file that is included in the index page through <? require "top_inc.php" ?> in the body of the page. You can see the problem if you go to http://development.hewittmediasolutions.com/ . I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work right, but nothing seems to work.
thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I already responded (though i was a lil off the subject that time ) to your question when u first started your 1st thread ... your "problem" is because you have one table that holds the entire body together with the header ... The quickest fix would be adding colspan="2" to this
<td align="center" colspan="2">
<img width="1024" height="159" border="0" src="images/header_banner.gif" />
</td>
and a rowspan="5" to this:
<tr>
<td><img width="182" height="123" border="0" src="images/babiesrus.gif"/>
</td><td valign="top" align="left" rowspan="5">[your content is here ... content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content, content]</td></tr>
<tr><td width="182"><img width="182" height="122" src="images/left_2.gif"/>
</td></tr>
Code? Yeah i love it fried together with a glass of wine.

Thanks for the response,
I made the changes and put it all into the index.php file, but I was hoping to have the side bar along with the top navigation banner to be in the top_inc.php and have that included into the index through a <? require "top_inc.php" ?>, whereas the index.php file just has the content on it. I have tried different variations hoping I could still get the content to show up along side like if I have it all on one file, if that makes any sense.

I have a life insurance website and business and i have gotten so many crap leads becuase we cant seem to get the proper validation. I need to know how we can validate emails, phone numbers, zip codes, city state, even names that dont look like they are real ex: rrrr dlahoh hdfoagif. also the emails like jjhj@rr.dd.com or john@john.com and phone number like 000-000-000, 001-1234-445, its really killing me and my money is a wastin away. Can some one please help!!!!! i have spent so much money and so much time and i have nothing to show for it. I will do anything to get this validation strong and active asap.
I also would like to know how we could dynamically populate the city and state fields with only using the zip code so we could hide the city and state input boxes.
url. www.termsafe.com If you can help i can possibly give you access to the site and or my developer and see what you can do.
If you can help me please email me at mfurman@termsafe.com subject: You owe me

1) for emails you could check the mx records for a given email ... tell your developer to look @ checkdnsrr php function
2) zip codes ... google for maxmind zip codes database (or owh ok ... http://http://www.maxmind.com/[^]... there might be other solutions also you just have to look.
3) phone numbers ... enhance your regex ... depending on the area on which your business is planed there should be some "standardization" regarding the number(for example a list of valid area codes etc.)
4) you might need to rethink your aproach ... but finally that's the developer's business.
5) names ... owh well in this sick world sum1 could call his son r2d2 if he's a fan of Starwars, or tok'ra/go'auld if he's a fan of Stargate or whatever else ... imho there isn't too much you can do without over complicating yourself and the server with all kind of regexes.
Code? Yeah i love it fried together with a glass of wine.

Hello:
Searching around the web, I stumbled upon the solution provided here for comparing html. But it's use is specific to Rainbow Portal html text compare which requires a Windows intallation and ASP. I'm a linux user and was wondering if there was a similar solution that was ported over to a linux app?
I pretty have similar reqs. as the Rainbow Portal Solution:
- Compare 2 websites from 2 servers. Compare text. Compare html.
- Free?
- Show what is different between the pages
- Could spider the site and go to each link to compare. OPTION: import a list of links to compare.
- Handle dynamic div id's, classes, names, styles.
- be able to recognize dates and times on pages that are different and ignore or possibly search and remove before comparing pages.
Thanks in advance!

Hi to All !
I have two applications (web projects) in old good ASP 3.0.
One of these applications has the strange problem with window.open, when the URL is asp page.
The window opens blank and busy (hourglass cursor).
The same URL pasted to explorer address bar brings the right result.
No such problem with html pages.
No such problem with the second project.
The server is Windows 2003
.NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0
All extension on the IIS are enabled (including asp,.NET, Server Includes)
For both projects defined the same version of .NET on ASP.NET tab (although I cannot imagine,
how it may affect the ASP application).
Every project is defined as a website with application(IIS definition).
All definitions are identical.
Both sites use the same Application pool and seat on the same IP with different headers.
Popup blocker on the client side is disabled
I've tried to use the following instead of window.open:
var winHndl = window.open("","TestWindow");<br />
winHndl.document.location = "test.asp";
I've tried also to use try-catch block, relative and absolute path,... Nop. No error, no results.
Can somebody plz shed a light on this mystery ?
What I need else to do/check ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gennady

wonder why u dun just use window.open("full_path_url","name of the window");
Code? Yeah i love it fried together with a glass of wine.

Where you get this idea that I didn't use window.open ? That was the first try.
Simply in the question I tried to give the full picture of my "experiments and research".
And additional question especially to you: did you read my message up to the end?
|
|
|
|
|
var winHndl = window.open("","TestWindow");
winHndl.document.location = "test.asp";
window.open("full_path_url","name of the window");
i was asking why u dun use the "direct" way without having 2 declarations for one thing ... but whatever
Code? Yeah i love it fried together with a glass of wine.

Sorry, you may beat me, but I cannot understand what one thing and two declarations you're talking about.
May be, it's because of my English, that is permanently under construction.
Thanks anyway.

I'd like to add the results of two additional tests:
1. Use the pure html page with .asp extension
2. The same page is loaded not in popup window, but instead of current page:
<br />
document.location = "test.asp";<br />
In both cases the result is the same - blank window with busy cursor.

Gennady

Hello,
Does your problem only happens in IE? Or all browsers?
Are you actually using window.open or window.showModalDialog?
I would try adding a break point in code so you could see if the debugger actually goes into the code or does IIS blocks it.
Have you checked what are the IIS log about this page?

Hi, Dominic !
Thanks.
We solved the problem with the help of MS support.
Using the debugdiag tool DebugDiag[^] we've found that one of asp pages loaded into the hidden frame (for debug purposes) filled out all available worker threads, executing the same one-time function more and more.
This happened, as far as I could understand, after updating the SQL client on the server.
Didn't understand the whole story yet.

Gennady

Hi,
I've to call a dll from my classic asp page.
In VB6 application, it has been loaded like that
Declare Sub functionName Lib "dllName.dll" (ByVal k As String, ByVal i As String)
If I would like to use that dll in classic asp, how can it be done?
Thanks in advance,

This[^] may help.
If you want to do thbis on a publicly hosted server, you will need to get the server admin to install the dll for you - whether or not they will do this depoends on your host...

Hi!
In my application the web pages are consisting of various different sections.
I am using AJAX update panel in one of the sections of my web page to do a partial postback and I am setting the values of the controls in this section.
Now when I re-direct to another page if the user clicks the back button
then the state of the controls in the section of the Page that was earlier set using AJAX is lost.
Is there some way I could overcome this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there!
I have a very small and hopefully simple query regarding JavaScript for loops and the '<' symbol that has been bugging me now for a couple of days.
Below is my JavaScript function that is being called by a submit button:
<script type="text/JavaScript">
function createTestArray()
{
for (i = 0; i < 5; i ++)
{
alert("Hello");
}
}
</script>
I have replaced the '<' symbol with the appropriate code (<) because it was causing errors but I still get an error saying:
Expected ')'
in the area where the '<' should be.
Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening or of any ways around this?
Thanks!
Grzegorz

I'm not sure i follow - you do actually need the less-than operator, <, not the HTML entity <. If you're worried about it being interpreted incorrectly, wrap your script in CDATA tags:
<script type="text/javascript">
function createTestArray()
{
for (var i = 0; i < 5; i ++)
{
alert("Hello");
}
}
</script> Note that you should also declare your loop counter (as shown - var i ...) to avoid relying on an automatic global variable.
---- You're right.
These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets .

Thanks very much for your reply,
I did try this and it didnt work either, its extremely puzzling. I wonder whether its because this particular peice of Javascript is within an XSLT file.
I have got round the problem by using <xsl:for-each xmlns:xsl="#unknown"> instead which has made things more complicated and other problems have arisen.
If you know of any other reasons why this may be happening than thank you in advance!

gokninski wrote: I wonder whether its because this particular peice of Javascript is within an XSLT file.
Yes, it is. I would have expected the CDATA trick to allow you to use < in the XSLT without causing problems, but it wouldn't surprise me much if it's being converted during output anyway. I suggest you avoid including any JS in the XSLT that you aren't generating on the fly with XSLT - your life will be much, much easier.
