U can simply copy the json content using file_get_contents('xyz.json')
And then decode the file contents using json_decode() and insert them into database using mysqli

My webhoster updates his PHP to PHP7. I use this only for sending mails in a contact form using the mail()-function. Refering to http://php.net/manual/de/function.mail.php[^] in Version 7 mail() is no longer available. Am I right with this assumption? if yes, are there any alternatives? I could still use php4 functionality, but my webhosters wants extra fees for php4-support.

Although this might be a necro thread, I believe the mail function is still working. They have been posting a couple of bug fixes for it, and the man page does list PHP 7.

There are many sites that offer SQL tutorials and samples. You have to decide which one is 'best' according to your knowledge and ability.
