The par where you upload the image from the local C drive to the server is trivial ASP.NET. The rest has nothing to do with ASP.NET, even if you do it on a server. why would a server accept an uploaded image, then stuff it into word before saving it ? Because it has too much hard drive space ?

Why not just put it in the word doc using Office Interop Library?

Hi,
In my Gridview, I am displaying columns like the below:
Col1 | Col2 | Col3
x | x | this is test. Abcfr mn some text some text, some text...
In the third column col3: I have large text some more than 1000 characters of data. While displaying this large text, I am displayinh the first 25 characters. Here my requirement is while printing, I have to print complete data in that column.
How to do this print?

I suggest buying a book on ASP.NET so you understand what it is and what it does. Printing is done by the browser and not by your code. You need to display your text, in order for it to print.

because you're observant ? Of all the forums, this one is definitely the one with the lowest clue factor. What's worst is people who spawn processes and show message boxes that do what they want because they test locally ( so the client IS the server ) and then they get all confused when they deploy....

Hi frnds,
I need to access a file through a dll. File is located in application directory, where my web pages are located.
>Abc.dll - referenced in web application.
>test.pdf - located in application directory same as web pages.
can i access test.pdf through abc.dll
I feel it should be a trivial thing...but dont know somehow I am missing it?

Try using Server.MapPath to resolve the virtual path in to physical path from the dll. You should reference the System.Web.dll before trying to do that.

Best thing to do would be to take the function out into it's own class and put it inside the app_code folder and use it from both the pages.

I have an application that "serves" barcode images to client pages. It is called by referencing the server page in the "src" or "ImageURL" property of an img object, along with parameters, such as <img src="barcode.aspx?code=ABCDEF123&width=3&height=0.75&barcolor=Red" alt="" />
It's working well, but now I'm trying to handle any errors that might occur. I would like to place the error description on an image that I download to the client page in place of the barcode image that *would* have been displayed if there had been no errors. I'm getting totally confused by all the graphics options. All I know is that I start with my message text ("rs_Message"), somewhere in the middle there'll be a "Dim Image As Byte()" line, and I need to end with the lines:
Response.Clear()
Response.ContentType = "image/gif"
Response.BinaryWrite(Image)
Response.End()
Any thoughts?

You can't assign anything to the FileName property of the upload control. That would be a serious security hole, as you could access the contents of files on the client system by automatically uploading them.
The user has to select the file to upload.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

I have a nested gridview using javascript to show and hide a child grid, I would also like to show or hide ALL child grids by clicking a checkbox. The javascript I am using is pretty popular, as you can see I have it set to have all children open, I populate the plus and minus button from the RowDataBound event because not all my parents have children. My javascript knowledge is very bad, what I need help with is:
How to make the ShowAll function, the HideAll function, and the call to it from the checkbox, also, how to sent the count to the functions because not all my parents have children. Thanks in advance for any help.

i am binding values from database to ddl through sqldatareader
records are binding in my dripdownlist but my first record is dosen't bind
i.e if i have 4 records in my table. ddl is binding only three records from 2 to 4 only dosen't bind 1st record.
shall i know what is the problem

dont call sqlReader.Read()
just set the datasource for the dropdown, the DataTextField, and the DataValueField, to whatever column you want them to be(the text field is what is displayed) and call the DataBind function on the drop down.
