Obvious really, post it on multiple forums gets more answers - not.
Its rude to post to multiple forums.

Don't cross post. That's rude.
Now, you could always just ping a packet to the server, and if you get a reply, it is up.

ping if pretty reliable, assuming the server is configured to respond to a ping request, but -
- you may want to wait until the server has failed, say, three pings in a row before flagging it as 'down', depending on how often you ping it, and
- don't ping it too often
if you need to verify something other than 'the server responds to pings' then a better option might be to write a program that tests the server functionality that you want to verify, and have it run as a scheduled task; no response w/in a certain timeframe means your server is down (or your test program has failed). Alternately, your test program could be presented as a web service from the server and called periodically remotely. There may be other options as well, it depends on precisely what you need to verify.
good luck!

This seems like an easy task but I havn't mangade to figure it out.
I have a table like this:
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tabAdminUser" width="257px" border="0">
<tr>
<td style="width:103px" rowspan="8"></td>
<td class="lblStyle1"><br />$User_usergroups$</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td style="height: 9px">
<asp:LinkButton ID="lbtnUserSearch" runat="server" Height="9px" CommandName="userSearch" CssClass="lbtnStyle8"
onclick="lbtnGoToPage_Click">$Search_for_user$</asp:LinkButton>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><asp:LinkButton ID="lbtnNewUser" runat="server" Height="9px" CommandName="newUser" CssClass="lbtnStyle8"
onclick="lbtnGoToPage_Click">$New_user$</asp:LinkButton>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
</table>
The problem is that I want the LinkButtons to be closer to each other.
I belive I've tryed everything, from setting the hight on the tablecell and linkbutton, but
no mather what, the tablecell always is 19px high.
Thanks

Hi,
I am trying to set a textbox's SkindID to based on if the checkbox is selected. If the checkbox is not checked then I don't want the textbox to have a SkinID set, how do I do this?? I have tried setting it to "", string.Empty and null, but it does not want to work. Please advise.
protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (chkImportDispensed.Checked)
{
txtImportExconApprovalNumber.SkinID = "RequiredTextBox";
}
else
{
txtImportExconApprovalNumber.SkinID = null;
}
}
Is this the proper way to set SkinIDs?
They say I must set the skind id dynamically in the Page_PreInit event handler, but when I add it the event does not even fire.
In the above event handler, even though the checkbox is clicked the checked property is always false, why?
Thanks.

Yes,Anyone has to change the themes programmatically then PreInit() is the only event where you can do it ?
.NET Enthusiast wrote: chkImportDispensed.Checked)
I suspects in Page-Init you won't get postback value as the ViewState is not loaded yet you should take check box value from request object like this
string selectedValue = Request.Form[controlID].ToString();
Try to run this code in Page Preinit event

Hi,
Thanks for the answer, but I added the following line of code and it does not work:
string selectedValue = Request.Form["chkImportDispensed"].ToString();
The error is:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Thanks

Its because Request.Form["chkImportDispensed"] is null
Make sure that chkImportDispensed is the client id of the checkbox
if chkImportDispensed is server id of the check box then
your code should be like this
string selectedValue = Request.Form[chkImportDispensed.ClientId]
if(!string.IsNullOrEmpty(selectedValue))
{
dd here what you have to do
}
Thanks and Regards

Hey,
Nope, still not working, here is my code:
string selectedValue = Request.Form[chkImportDispensed.ClientID];
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(selectedValue))
{
}
For some or other reason selectedValue always remains null, checked or not checked. On this checkbox is an autopostback = true.
Any other ideas?

Try to debug the application by putting break point there andd see whats happening
In which event have you written these lines of code ?
Thanks and Regards

Thats what I am doing. I am doing it in the Page_Init. When I do a Response.Write on the the Page.Controls.Count then I get a count of 1. So obviously it is not getting the control. I just want to know why we must set the SkinID here if the controls are not found??
|
|
|
|
|
don't check the count there as all controls not get initialised still in this event after this event all controls will get inititalised thats why we are trying to get values from rquest object and even Viewstate is not loaded have look at this url might help you
