Do you mean something like this?
TextBox1.Text = GridView1.SelectedValue.ToString();
string mystring = GridView1.SelectedValue.ToString();
Int32 myint = mystring..?

I meant sth like this
int myInt = int.Parse(GridView1.SelectedValue.ToString());
If your SelectedValue is already a string, then you don't need the conversion.

Hello peeps
I have a problem setting my tooltip spacing on my page, i am using this to get the spacing.
function ShowDivBox(sendingTD, innerMessage)
{
newdiv = document.createElement('div');
newdiv.style.position = "absolute";
newdiv.style.top = 273 + sendingTD.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.offsetTop + 20;
newdiv.style.left = sendingTD.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.offsetLeft + 25;
newdiv.style.zIndex = "5000";
newdiv.style.paddingLeft = "10px";
newdiv.style.paddingTop = "10px";
newdiv.innerHTML = innerMessage;
newdiv.id = "divAddWord";
sendingTD.appendChild(newdiv);
}
function RemoveAddWord(sendingTD)
{
if (newdiv)
{
var id = newdiv.id;
var oldDiv = document.getElementById(id);
if (oldDiv)
sendingTD.removeChild(oldDiv);
}
}
but the problem is when i scroll down in the grid view the grid height makes the tooltip display out of site on the bottom of the page, then more i scroll down on the scroll bar the further down it goes is there anyone who could help me with the correct syntax to subtract the scroll height of my code?

Hi,
How to call a C# function from javascript apart from add attribute.
If we can do it with AJAX,callback or Web services means, then i need it in detail about how to implement it
|
|
|
|
|
AFAIK you can call only the Static server side methods from your JavaScript using AJAX. For this you need to set the property EnablePageMethods="true" in your <scriptmanager>.
Also the server side function should contain the attribute [WebMethod]

Hi friends,
In my application i want to create a user control, which will display in client side where a user can drag the items in the control. Clearly it means in my control i need text box,radio button etc.In client side one need to drag the control in their pages just like we drag items from toolbox to the design page , I need it to be possible in run time. A user can able to drag and drop controls in the page as they wish. Also the user can place the control in a particular position as they wish. Can any one help me to solve this problem.Its urgent.

I am not able to get clue about, which kind of application you are working on. If you are developing Window Forms application then you can use SharpDevelop Form Designer[^] for this purpose, Alternatively if you are working on ASP.NET then you have to try some commercial tool kits

Good Morning Guys
I have a Problem on my ASP.NET Application. I have a Web setup Project created and it used to work fine before, but now , when i try to Compile it it gives a Warning
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
And when i install the Application i get the Error. I have googled the Problem and solutions talked about sharepoint. but am just using a normal ASp.net 2.0 App.
Thanks

The Problem is not related to Coding, its related to my Setup Project. Am using Custom Actions and the Project had Problems with it. After i removed them it worked fine.
Thanks

Does a Data Access Component has any impact on the Web application performance if it is designed using SingleTon design pattern?
Satish

Can you please put some more details about how you are implementing web application using Singleton pattern?
|
|
|
|
|
DAC is implemented in sigleton pattern not the webapp.
My concern is when DAC is singleton, single instance will be shared across all the session.
When single instance is being served by one user request and other user is trying for it should second user need to wait for it to get access?
I am totally confused how it will share the single instance across all the session. If the single instance serve each user request sequentially one after other, application will become slow, or mybe i am thinking completely wrong way.
Please clarify me, Thanks in advance

Hi,
it depends how your DAC is implemented. If you are using thread-synchronization methods (like locks, Monitors etc.) then your DAC does not support multiple requests at once. This will force the second user to wait until the first one is done using the DAC (depends really on the implementation).
If you didn't use synchronization methods, then your DAC can be accessed by multiple users at the same time.
Singleton only means that you are using one single instance on a class. It doesn't say anything about multi-threading. But if you use a singleton in a multi-threaded environment (like a webserver) you have to pay attention that multi-threading is not a problem for your DAC (side-effects).
Singleton is a design-pattern <-> serving one request at a time is a threading issue.
Hope this helps a bit.

Sebastian

satz32 wrote: My concern is when DAC is singleton, single instance will be shared across all the session.
This depends if DAC is running in separate Application Domain and serving to multiple application instance via Web Service or any other interoperability methodology. Otherwise every application will have associated DAC running in same application domain, No matter how it is implemented.

You can easily figure out if DAC is running in separate instance by inspecting application architecture.
