That's fine. Even me also like to do so. I just told a scenario, I know people who still use old browsers. If full application security is depends on javascript , it still sounds bad for me.

Hi,
What is the difference between Request.ServerVariables["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"] and Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_ADDR"] in Asp.Net. I think both are used for showing the system's IP address. then what's the major difference between both? anybody pls explain me clearly.
Regards
Vijay.

The IP address of the system that is actually displaying the webpage.
vijay_83 wrote: REMOTE_ADDR
The Proxy/Firewall right?
Quoting from http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec14.html[^], there should be a VIA header too:
If the response is being forwarded through a proxy, the proxy application MUST NOT modify the Server response-header. Instead, it SHOULD include a Via field (as described in section 14.45).

Well, if the users are on your local machine, why do you expect it to work ? How were they on your machine, in a local DB?

Please don't post twice with the same issue.
Realistically, what do you expect us to tell you ? We have no idea what code you're running, what makes you think it's slow, or even if you've tested it more than once. Set breakpoints in your code, and work out which bit of your code is too slow, and if you can't work out why, post it here.

Not sure your question. But please have the PostBack checking on your every page before start your code:
if (!IsPostBack)
{
//Your Code here
}
This will ensure that your code is only run on the first load.

I just asked you what is the problem in the other forum. Pick one forum please, it is rude to cross post

Looking at your message history, you post every question you have to at least three forums. Please don't do that, it's rude and annoying. Pick the right forum and ask there.

Hi, I have connected to and retrieved data from the database. I have yet to bind the data to any control since I'm uncertain which one is the most suitable control for storing large text files and displaying large text files. Please point me to a tutorial using asp.net 1.x, most of the ones I came across only show how to display records from the database where the records have only a couple of words instead of a whole page of paragraph. Thank you in advance for your help.

Text is text. Your main concern is, if the file is huge, the page will be huge. No control exists for the purpose of viewing large text files specifically, a label is as good a control as any. You may want to put it inside a div and use CSS to make a scrollable window, or something like that, depending on how big, is big.

Hey there Christ, just the person I want to talk to. Let me give you the details of my problem. The other day when I posted a similar question, I had data from a database bound to a listbox then when I display it I noticed that my listitems were replaced by the data from the database. I realized that I have to bind the data to another control if I want to keep my listitems so I can use them to make more selections. Someone who had responded to that post said that I can bind data to a second control, when I select a listitem from my first listbox. Then I can display the data thats bound to the second listbox. I've tried to make that work but thus far it doesn't work. Can you perhaps shed a little light on that? And please don't be vague, after all I'm new to this stuff. I took your advice and bought a book, its not the latest version since I'm still using Framework 1.1.

LOL - Christ ?
If you set the datasource for a listbox, it will replace the contents. Instead, you can take a datatable and iterate over it, as in
foreach(DataRow row in myTable)
{
}
Inside this loop you can access data from the row by index ( row[0] ) or by column name ( row["CarName"] ) These methods return an object, use ToString() to turn them into strings, which they probably are. Or cast them.
Then you can add items to the listbox via myListbox.Items.Add(
In that way, you can add items without losing the ones that are there.
