It sounds to me like you're hopelessly lost. This is the ASP.NET forum. It doesn't sound like you're writing a web app. Did you mean the C# or VB.NET forum ? If so, File.SaveAllText is what you need.

This depend's on what you want. Say for an example If you want to transfer the control to another page in the same server but you prefer to keep the URL the same and like to transfer the query string values to the next page then you should use Server.Transfer . If you just simply want to tell the browser to transfer to another page in the same server or different server then you should use Response.Redirect . Note: Server.Transfer doesn't add the page to the history of page visited on the client-side cache.

Thanks for the Clarification Jhon ,
Will the Response.Redirect Forces the Session Varriable to be posted to the Transfered page ?

Session variables live on the server, they are not posted anywhere. Viewstate exists on the client, and it's lost in both cases.

Session values will be available through-out the session in all the pages. You don't have to think of session values when using Server.Transfer and Response.Redirect. it's there...

I think this question is already posted in this forum...
There are a lot of way to do..
1. Add ASPNET account to Administrators group....
OR
2. Give the full permission to everyone (including ASPNET account)
OR
3. Add impersonate=true in your web.config..
hope it helps...

Hi
I have a ASP.Net 1.1 website with VB as code behind and the aspx pages inherit from certain business objects which in turn inherit from the System.Web.UI.Page class. In the business object, they have go the declaration for a couple of third party controls present in all the pages. The problem is that every time, I switch to design mode for the pages, Visual Studio inserts a property declaration for those controls present in the page and now it is duplicated. Is there a way I can trick Visual Studio not to insert declarations for all those controls which are already defined in any of the classes in the inheritance chain?
This is how the structure is:
Page1.aspx has a third party control with id set to 'crtl1'.
Here is how the inheritance chain is:
Page1 inherits BusinessObjectA
BusinessObjectA inherits BusinessObjectB
BusinessObjectB inherits System.Web.UI.Page.
BusinessObjectB already contains the declaration for crtl1.
Now, if I view Page1.aspx in design mode and then view the code, Visual Sutido inserts a declaration for crtl in Page1's code behind file.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
tsr.

Hi,
Currently, in my ASP .Net project, I read text from a text file using a streamreader. The code I use is below:
<br />
<% <br />
Dim sR As New IO.StreamReader(IO.Path.Combine(Server.MapPath("~"), "templates/menu.txt"))<br />
Do<br />
Dim line As String = sR.ReadLine<br />
Response.Write(line)<br />
Loop Until (sR.EndOfStream = True)<br />
<br />
sR.Close()<br />
%><br />
Will an exception be thrown if two separate people access the same page at the same time, thereby causing two streamreaders to try and access the same file?
Thanks in advance,
Mitch

I believe that this is OK. A file can be accessed by more than 1 process, as long as another process has not locked or prohibited read access to the file. If you were writing to a file, you would want to lock all or part of it to ensure that your changes were not overwritten by another process.

Great, thanks for the reply.
I wasn't sure how Windows would handle two separate read requests at the same time.
Thanks,

You probably do not have a SQL Server installed on your machine. Try installing the express edition of SQL Server and let me know if you are still not able to use Admin tools.

1. Convert all bounded columns to the template columns.
2. Add a Link and set the commandname "Edit" in normal template..
3. Add another link in edit template and set the commandname "update"
4. In Datagrid_ItemCommand event,
<br />
if(commandname = "edit"){<br />
}<br />
else if(commandname = "update"){<br />
}
That's all..

|

VS 2005 Pro SP1 on Win XP.
I get the above error occasionally on attempting to save a web form. Clicking on OK triggers the Save As dialog box. At this point the only solution is to save it to another location, then quit VS, copy the saved file back to its original location (i.e., overwrite the corrupted original) and then restart VS.
I've seen that others have had this problem but on older versions of VS. So far, I've only noticed it happening on the same specific file. This is a file I've inherited from another developer and contains user controls and Ajax controls.
I also have these IDE add-ins - Refactor! Pro/DXCore, GhostDoc, SmartPaster, CodeKeep, Resharper UnitRun.
Any ideas?
Kevin
