I think it depends on the resources you have. When your website is hosted on a shared server, you won't get much database space. So keeping images in database will make DB heavy. I have seen performance gain when I kept images in hard drive. Other point is maintainability. When one image has to be replaced, just login through FTP and replace the file. But if it is in database, you need separate user interface to do so.
Also images kept in the database makes DB backups a time consuming process. So thinking all possibilities, I always prefer to keep image path in DB and image in hard drive. What do you say ?

Good day.
I'm developing my own web control and I'm trying to set the other control as a property of my web control i.e.
<mycontrol:customcontrol id="TestID" formsubmitbutton="btn_SubscribeMe">
I need to access the btn_SubscribeMe from within my control. How can I achieve this?
The code for my control looks like this.
Private _formSubmitButton As WebControl
Public Property FormSubmitButton() As WebControl
Get
Return _formSubmitButton
End Get
Set(ByVal value As WebControl)
_formSubmitButton = value
End Set
End Property
And I get the following error:
Cannot create an object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl' from its string representation 'btn_SubscribeMe' for the 'FormSubmitButton' property.
Can anyone tell me how I can acheive this?
Thank you very much. C# or VB code welcome.

I've got a Captcha control on my page along with some other buttons (a search button, amongst other things) on the page. The does the validation whenever a postback occurs and if the validation fails, it renders a new random number that is placed in the session variable. The problem is, I'm using AJAX and whenever a user clicks on the search button, a postback occurs and the generated code for the user gets invalidated, because he hasn't yet entered the captcha code.
What I want to acheive is, something similar to the "controlToValidate" property of the RegularExpressionValidator control. I want to set a property on the captcha control, so that it only does validation when that control is pressed and not some other control.

OK i think you need to check this.ScriptManager.IsInAsyncPostBack
if it is asynchronous postback then make validations false
else true
Thanks and Regards

You can create a mailto: tag that opens the default mail program. You can't embed Outlook inside your web page, you may be able to prepopulate the email with HTML that renders the way you want it to.

You cannot do that with ASP.NET DropDownList control. May be your can use custom controls (JavaScript DropDownLists???).

Every day, I wonder why so many people use ASP.NET, but do not understand it. ASP.NET runs on the server. The only code you can run on the client is javascript. What button do you want to push ? You probably can't, but you can do things like go back a page, in javascript.

True. Sometimes is just irritating. People don't read books and expect some one to do their work.
